The Real Reason Kelly Clarkson Left ‘The Voice’ This Season
Kelly Clarkson left The Voice before the new season, with Gwen Stefani returning to the show as her replacement. There were lots of rumors about why Kelly left the show, including comments that Kelly herself made about wanting to spend more time with her kids.
However, Kelly revealed in a recent interview the real reason she left The Voice, and as expected, it was completely her own choice.
Kelly Clarkson on leaving The Voice
Kelly Clarkson was on The Voice for eight seasons. She joined the reality TV show in Season 14 and was a coach until the 21st season. What is most impressive about her tenure on the show is that Kelly’s singers won in four of her eight seasons. While Blake Shelton has won more than anyone else, he has been on the show for 22 seasons now. Kelly has the highest winning percentage of any coach.
Kelly won her fourth crown last season with Girl Named Tom. However, instead of returning to defend her title, she left the show. Many fans were angry and threatened to boycott, but it was Kelly’s choice and it really isn’t fair to demand that she do something she doesn’t want to do. Plus, she had a really good reason for leaving the show.
Kelly just got divorced, and she said after the settlement finished that she wanted to spend more time with her kids. That means that she had to remove some work from her life. She is going to move into the lead role of a daytime talk show host once her show replaces Ellen DeGeneres’ as the biggest show on NBC daytime television this fall. That will take up a lot of time. However, the real reason Kelly Clarkson left The Voice was because she also wanted to make new music.
Kelly Clarkson has new music coming
In an interview with Variety, Kelly Clarkson said she was taking the fall season of The Voice off. This is because she recorded her first album in five years. The new music will come out in 2023, but fans can hear some new stuff as she released a Kelly-Oke album earlier this year and has a new single with Dolly Parton, where they cover Parton’s “9-to-5.”
“That’s why taking this summer was so important to me, even though a lot of people were kind of bummed because I was supposed to do a couple of things,” Kelly said. “Obviously, I stepped down on “The Voice” this season, because I just needed the space.”
She said that she needed to make this new album, and that meant making sacrifices. However, the good news is that she said she “might” be back on The Voice one day, but wouldn’t guarantee anything.
