Whoopi Goldberg Shares True Feelings About Meghan McCain

Whoopi Goldberg said that former co-host Meghan McCain is emotionally draining. The View moderator shared her thoughts in a new interview at the New York Film Festival premiere of Till on Saturday, October 1. Last year, the conservative co-host quit the talk show. Whoopi admitted that the atmosphere is a lot more different.

Now, there are two conservatives at the round table. In July, The View announced Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin as the two new permanent hosts. Ana has been a fan favorite despite her conservative views.

Whoopi Goldberg shades former The View co-host

In a new interview with Page Six, Whoopi Goldberg admitted that she’s longer stressed out at work ever since Meghan McCain left. She recalls many times when she left the show “tired” than ever. Meghan left her position in August 2021 after four seasons.

She would often argue with Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar on the show. Meghan maintains her stance that her co-hosts bullied her. She experienced distress when she returned from maternity leave. However, viewers slammed her for her conservative opinions and the fights she started.

“We’ve always had disagreements and stuff, but this one was a little bit different,” Whoopi Goldberg explained to Page Six. “I think [the show], it’s better. I feel it’s better, but I’m still tired!”

The 66-year-old comedian joked that she still returns home exhausted. Still, she’s much happier in the “calmer” work environment. She doesn’t experience the same level of stress she had when Meghan was on the show. Whoopi also recalled a time when her daughter would notice the expressions she often made at Meghan.

Whoopi Goldberg isn’t the only one who feels this way about her former co-host. To this day, Meghan talks about her negative experience with the talk show. In her 2021 audio memoir, Bad Republican, she criticized the Sister Act star. Meghan claimed that Whoopi had it out for her ever since she joined the show.

“The thing about Whoopi… is that she yields so much power in culture and television, and once she turns on you, it can create unfathomable tension at the table,” Meghan said. “I found her open disdain for me more and more difficult to manage as the years went on, and it became more frequent.”
