She described, “When you’re performing on stage, you never really have time to go into the bathroom and close the door. So if you get a little gassy, you’ve got to let it go. So people used to say to me, ‘You’re like a whoopee cushion.’ And that’s where the name came from.”
Whoopi Goldberg Worked As A Waitress Before Starting Acting
During the 1970s, the actress had a couple of different jobs that include working as a waitress, bank teller, bricklayer, and mortuary cosmetologist. Later on, she joined the Blake Street Hawkeyes theatre group and started giving acting and comedy classes. Actress and singer Courtney Love was one of her acting students.
