Val Chmerkovskiy has been a part of Dancing With The Stars for many seasons now. He has two Mirrorball Trophies under his belt and he knows exactly how hard contestants have to work if they want to win.

During his time in the ballroom, Val has also gotten a little more familiar with the judges’ likes and dislikes. And he says one judge in particular can be difficult to impress. Who is it?

Val Chmerkovskiy describes the complex relationship between judges and dancers

The Bachelorette star Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy are doing pretty well in the ballroom right now. During Elvis Night, they tied for first place along with two other couples. Dancing With The Stars viewers can clearly see they’re one of the top contenders at the moment. But can they continue to impress the judges?

According to Val, one judge can be very difficult to impress from time to time.

“We have such a different relationship with the judges than I think people think we do, you know?” the Ukrainian dancer admitted in an interview with Us Weekly recently. “The most intimidating … obviously, the answer [for others] is Len [Goodman] because Len is, you know, he’s kind of no-nonsense. With Len, I don’t find him intimidating because I navigate in his lane.”

Teresa Giudice went home during the Elvis Night episode and confessed she didn’t think Len Goodman cared much for her. Many viewers believe that Len is often too harsh with his feedback and the in-house audience boos him at times. But even so, Val thinks there’s one judge that is tougher.

The DWTS pro reveals the judge he finds most intimidating

Facing the judges after a performance can always be frightening, but Val Chmerkovskiy says Carrie Ann Inaba is the judge he really finds intimidating.

“For me, I think that the most challenging judge out there would probably be Carrie Ann just because she kind of gravitates in the department and the lane that I’m not really [great at],” Val continued in the interview. “I mean, I’m good at [that] as well, but I think [for her] as a female adjudicator, me being partnered with female celebs, you know, that that could be a more intimidating perspective to perform in front of.”
