‘Jeopardy!’s Latest Live Audience Blunder Causes Chaos
After a gap of two and a half years, Jeopardy resumed filming with a live audience on the set. Back in 2020, the makers confirmed that the shows won’t tape with a live audience given the increasing cases of COVID-19. Now, the filming process with a live audience has resumed with Season 39. With this very season, Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings have started their stint as permanent hosts.
Jeopardy! Makers Accused Of Overselling Show Tickets
Currently, Ken Jennings is hosting the show while Mayim Bialik will take charge from January to the end of the season. While the news of the audience returning to the set is great, something has fans riled up. Some Jeopardy! fans claimed that the show is selling a lot of tickets for the live tapings. And, this is causing an over-capacity conundrum.

While it is exciting to hear the roaring cheers of the crowd as opposed to empty seats, no one would want to be a part of an overcrowded set. The attendees at the Alex Trebek Stage have claimed that the studio is over-capacity leading to several problems & even snubbed ticketholders. Although tickets for Jeopardy!’s live set are free for the ones that wish to witness the game live, several noted that they are having some troubles.
Reddit Users Complain Of Being Denied Entry To The Jeopardy! Set
Talking about this dilemma, a Redditor wrote, “PSA: New ticket system is a bit of a mess. Just a heads up that if you’re attending a showing you’ll want to get there EARLY.”

“My wife and I had tickets to attend the 3:30 Celebrity Jeopardy! taping today. Paid for the sitter etc and despite arriving 45 minutes BEFORE they asked us to arrive we were denied entry. The new service massively oversells tickets and gave out priority for those who were denied entry to the days previous taping. Unfortunately for us, they wouldn’t give us the same favor for the 5:30 taping,” they explained.
Another Reddit user questioned, “I had a very similar experience. One of my main issues is if they already knew how many people would fit, why wouldn’t they just start turning people away earlier instead of making them wait?”
How Does Jeopardy! Film Its Episodes With Live Audience?
However, a third user defended the show and wrote,
“That being said, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a TV taping where it wasn’t spelled out that seating wasn’t guaranteed and that it was first come first serve.”

Jeopardy! tapes their show on Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting July all the way to May in the next year. As per The Sun, they tape 5 shows in one day with 2 different sets of audiences.

Overselling tickets and wasting people’s time and money is despicable! They have to drive, park, walk, stand in line, and should be guaranteed a seat, period. If they have 400 seats, then sell 400 seats, period. It’s the only decent thing to do.
