‘Jeopardy!’ Execs Say Alex Trebek Tribute May Break Internet
The names Jeopardy! and Alex Trebek go hand-in-hand. Although Trebek wasn’t the first host to be a part of the show, his exceptional hosting skills did earn him Jeopardy! fans’ love and admiration. In honor of the legendary host, Jeopardy! confirmed that it will dedicate a tribute episode that has the potential to break the internet.
Special Alex Trebek Jeopardy! Tribute To Air On November 8
During an episode of Inside Jeopardy! podcast, the show’s executive producer Michael Davies & producer Sarah Whitcomb Foss came together to make a special announcement. The duo confirmed that the special tribute to the late host will come on November 8, 2022. As per Yahoo!, this is the second anniversary of Trebek’s passing which also happens to be Election Day.

Talking about the special episode, Davies said, “Overall, we owe him a fantastic episode of Jeopardy! on that day. It may well break the internet. I don’t want to give too much away.”
Alex Trebek passed away in 2020 after struggling with pancreatic cancer for more than a year. After his tragic passing, the show had a series of hosts fill in as a replacement. Later on, Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings were confirmed as the permanent hosts for the show. The duo will share their hosting duties throughout the upcoming Jeopardy! season. While Ken will host the show starting in September, Mayim will take over her duties from January.

Talking about her new hosting gig, Mayim shared, “It’s very exciting to get to share this honor and this platform with Ken, who is such a legend. It’s overwhelming, but in a really good way.”

Host Ken Jennings also shared his views as he said, “I’m such a fan of the show—to this day, I feel like a fan—I wouldn’t be the person I am without all the Jeopardy! I watched as a kid, and then, of course, it changed my life in a big way 20 years ago.”
“It’s just an honor to be associated with the show in any way, and now with Mayim double the perks, “he added.
When Does Celebrity Jeopardy! Air On ABC?
This update came after Davies’ revelation that Celebrity Jeopardy! will feature a new format. As confirmed by the executive producer on August 30, the popular special will be a 13-week-long tournament. As opposed to its typical 30-minute run, the new episodes will be an hour long. Talking about the change in duration, Davies said, “What people want is to see celebrities put under the same pressure.”

Celebrity Jeopardy! will features celebs like Michael Cera, Constance Wu, BJ Novak, Simu Liu, Ray Romano, & Patton Oswalt. These celebs will compete to win the prize money for a charity of their choice. Celebrity Jeopardy! will premiere on September 25, 2022. However, Jeopardy! Season 39 premieres on September 12, 2022, on ABC.
