‘Saturday Night Live’ Season 48: Cast Round Up

Saturday Night Live has officially announced the casting lineup for Season 48. In what has been dubbed a “year of change” for SNL, there are a lot of new faces this season, but don’t worry. Plenty of the older cast members are still around too. Keep reading to find out who will be on the cast of Saturday Night Live this year.

Which Cast Members Aren’t Returning?

The very first episode of SNL aired in October 1975. Since then, each season has introduced new faces to the world of comedy and entertainment. In fact, some of the biggest names in entertainment like Chevy Chase and Adam Sandler got their start on Saturday Night LiveViewers are not strangers to the idea of changes in the SNL cast, but this year’s change is a bit more drastic.

A total of eight cast members will not be returning for Season 48. During the season finale in May 2022, SNL said goodbye to four cast members, including Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney. All four individuals have been main cast members for the last couple of years. McKinnon had a 10-year stint on the show.

Since then, it has been announced that there are four more cast members leaving the show. Aristotle Athari will be leaving Saturday Night Live after only one season. Melissa Villaseñor, Alex Moffat, and Chris Redd were also among the other cast members departing from SNL.

Where there is loss, there is also something to gain. Saturday Night Live has announced its all-new cast for Season 48.

New Saturday Night Live Cast Members

While many people are sad to see so many people leaving the cast of SNL, there will be new faces filling those spots. The main cast members will be Michael Che, Colin Jost, Kenan Thompson, Mikey Day, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Chris Redd,  and Bowen Yang. As you’ll notice, many of these individuals have been main cast members for previous seasons as well.

Featured cast members for Season 48, include Andrew Dismukes, Devon Walker, James Austin Johnson, Punkie Johnson, Sarah Sherman, Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, and Michael Longfellow. Hernandez, Walker, Kearney, and Longfellow are all new additions, pictured below.

SNL Season 48 premieres on NBC at 11:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, October 1. The show will also be available on Hulu to stream within a few hours of its airing.
