Whatever Happened To ‘The Voice’ Season 1 Winner Javier Colon?
Season 1 of The Voice was a big deal. No one knew what to expect from the all-new singing competition. Rather than judges, like on American Idol, there were famous musicians as coaches. Adam Levine got lucky and his team were crowned the premiere winners. Javier Colon took the prize and looked like he was primed for success. As Season 22 gets ready to start, a plethora of artists are hoping to become the next success story. Yet, whatever happened to Javier? Read on for more details.
Season 1 Of The Voice Names Their Premiere Star
So many talented artists tried out for the first season but only so many could make it to each team. Adam Levine had a hilarious rivalry with country singer, Blake Shelton. In the end, it was Levine’s team that took home the grand prize as Javier Colon was named The Voice. With that title, he also won 100K and a contract with Universal Music Group, according to Meaww. Unfortunately, Colon did not feel like he was getting the proper support he needed from Universal. There is a lot that goes into making a record but it seems he was not finding this with that label.
Fortunately, he signed with Concord Music Group. After that, he was able to record and release his fourth album entitled Gravity. Six years later, he was forced to slow down, like most artists, due to the pandemic. Yet, he did not really slow much as he started his own project called the Quarantine Concert Series. Thankfully, he is back to light touring and has one date set up in Hartford, CT in December.
Finally, his personal life is still thriving as he is married to his love of over twenty years, Maureen. The two just celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary in August. He shared on Instagram how they were so young and no one thought they would make it. However, they pushed through and are successfully raising three children happily together. Plus, he is still living his dream with her beside him so that makes it even more magical.
The Next Round
Adam Levine no longer coaches on The Voice and hasn’t for some time, so this season has some new faces. Gwen Stefani is back and is now sitting in for Kelly Clarkson. Ariana Grande was a judging miss last season so Camila Cabello is stepping in for the first time. Blake Shelton and John Legend have stuck around and this season is anybody’s game. The talent is truly always very impressive so it should be exciting to see what the blind auditions bring.
