‘Sister Wives’ Fans Pinpoint The Moment Kody Brown Changed
After 16 seasons of Sister Wives, it’s abundantly clear that Kody Brown has changed. When the show first aired, he was more jovial, family-friendly, and fun-loving. Fans barely recognize that Kody in the Season 17 trailers.
Sister Wives viewers can point to a number of different incidents that likely changed Kody. However, online sleuths think they have it narrowed down to one specific incident. What happened?
Did having so many children ultimately turn Kody Brown into his melancholy self?
When Sister Wives first premiered, Kody Brown was preparing to welcome the birth of his 13th child, Truely Grace. Shortly after that, he married his fourth wife Robyn. They went on to welcome two more children, Soloman and Ariella. Today, Kody has three grandchildren and is about to welcome three more. His days of having his own children have likely come to an end. But is that the reason he changed?
One Redditor recently pointed out that they noticed Kody Brown started to really change after Robyn gave birth to Ariella.
“So while watching the entire series just recently I noticed that Kody went from a goofy happy go lucky guy to a total tyrant who was miserable. I tried to pinpoint what changed and a few signs point toward the birth of his last child,” the original Redditor wrote. “Kody said before that during Robyn’s pregnancy with Solomon they were very close but during her pregnancy with Ariella it was different and they were distant.”
The user went on to say how Kody started getting more short-tempered with the family members and said he didn’t want to have any more kids. Even after Ariella became a toddler, he got annoyed at how she still insisted on sleeping in bed with her parents.
“I think the combination of having to actually parent children AND not getting to sleep alone with Robyn which makes them distant has turned him even more miserable than he was before,” the OP concluded.
Other Redditors aren’t quite so sure
While many other Redditors agree that the OP makes an interesting point, they aren’t quite convinced that Ariella’s birth was what ultimately changed Kody.
“I agree with you that his life is exhausting – even if everything was running smoothly and as they all envision it should, there just isn’t enough mental and physical energy in one person to adequately meet 4 wives and 20ish kids emotional and physical needs,” another user chimed in. “Now add on that Kody has a really special ability to choose to do things in the most difficult way imaginable, and bam, he has created an unsustainable life for himself and his family.”

Considering all 3 OG sister wives have left Cody i believe the money from the show has destroyed him. He is so angry n miserable any more i would leave him 2. He used to let the wives have a say now he just wants them to obey him. He’s a joke n I’m so glad the 3 wives left him!
