Why Some ‘DWTS’ Fans Don’t Want Gabby Windey To Compete
Val Chmerkovskiy and The Bachelorette star Gabby Windey are preparing to compete on DWTS this fall. Good Morning America unveiled the full cast this morning and fans couldn’t be more thrilled about the lineup.
While many Bachelor Nation fans are happy to see Gabby compete, some members of the larger DWTS audience are irritated by her presence on the show. Did she do something to rub them the wrong way?
DWTS fans have mixed feelings about Gabby Windey’s presence in the ballroom
Val’s wife Jenna Johnson is also a DWTS pro. But this year, she’s pregnant and watching her husband compete from home. She’s incredibly excited to see what he and Gabby bring to the dance floor.
“I love her work ethic and I think their banter is gonna be hysterical ‘cause he’s suave and she just like real so I think it’s gonna be hysterical. I just know from their little progress of rehearsing already before the premiere that they are ready and she’s in it to win it,” Jenna told Us Weekly about The Bachelorette star.
However, not everyone is excited about Gabby Windey’s big DWTS debut.
Over the years, Dancing With The Stars has cast a wide variety of people to compete on the show. In recent years, the term “stars” has become very loose. Influencer Olivia Jade competed last year with Val Chmerkovskiy and did fairly well. And members of Bachelor Nation have been setting foot in the ballroom for years now. It’s a rarity when there isn’t at least one Bachelor Nation personality per season.
And that’s where some fans have issues with DWTS casting Gabby Windey for Season 31. They just don’t feel like she fits the term “star.” The same fans have issues with TikTok star Charli D’Amelio joining the cast and her mother Heidi as well.
Do you think DWTS has become too loose with its definition of “star talent?” Or are you excited to tune in? Be sure to let everyone know what you think in the comments.
Bachelor Nation alums continue to compete on DWTS
Of course, DWTS fans know that Gabby Windey definitely isn’t the first Bachelor Nation alum to compete. Hannah Brown and Kaitlyn Bristowe won back-to-back years in Seasons 28 and 29. The issue became so controversial that DWTS pro Cheryl Burke even suggested banning Bachelor Nation alums from competing.
That never happened and The Bachelor star Matt James competed in Season 30. Now, it’s Gabby Windey’s turn to compete for the Mirrorball Trophy. With a partner like Val Chmerkovskiy, she’s going to be tough to beat.
How do you feel about this year’s lineup? Stay tuned for the DWTS Season 31 premiere on September 19. You won’t want to miss out on a single second of the action!
