Is Cheryl Burke Itching To Make A Move On Her ‘DWTS’ Partner?
Veteran Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke is looking for romance amid her split from Matthew Lawrence. The pair were married for three years but announced their split at the beginning of the year. Now it’s DWTS season and Cheryl has her mind busy with work.
The official cast list doesn’t come out until September 8, but Season 31 promo materials heavily feature Cheryl Burke. Fans already know she’ll be back in the ballroom this year, even though they don’t yet know who her partner will be.
Right now, the pro dancers and their celebrity partners are practicing for the big season premiere on Season 31. Cheryl’s getting time to know her new partner. And it seems like she might be thinking about making a move.
Cheryl Burke is ready to move on — but is her dance partner an option?
As TV Shows Ace recently shared, Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence opted to have a speedy divorce this year. Many high-profile divorces are long and drawn out because the couple has to divide all the assets. But Matthew and Cheryl definitely aren’t wasting any time here. Sources indicate that the pair is moving forward with an uncontested divorce.
Although the divorce is still ongoing, Cheryl and Matthew are free to date other people. The 38-year-old dancer even has a new podcast called Burke In The Game where she explores dating after divorce. Bachelor alum Nick Viall recently joined Cheryl on a recent episode.
Since Cheryl is currently rehearsing for DWTS Season 31, she’s getting to know her celebrity partner a little bit better. And of course, Nick and Cheryl discussed whether or not she should try to date her new partner.
“[Let’s] put it this way — I can see why it’s desirable and fun to do. And I’m guessing you probably have done it already,” Nick joked.
“Ha, I’ve only been on like 35 seasons! Definitely all 35 of them, I learned my lesson. It never works,” Cheryl laughed in reply.
According to Cheryl, many pros go on to date their former partners. Kym Johnson and Robert Herjavec are married with twins. Season 29 champion Artem Chigvintsev just married his Season 25 partner, Nikki Bella. They have a two-year-old son together too.
Nick Viall cautions the dancer against falling too fast
Although Nick and Cheryl seemed to largely joke about the situation, The Bachelor star did have a few words of warning for the dancer.
“Chemistry might be manufactured by the environment, a common connection … so you recognize that being in this environment creates this natural chemistry, so next time you go in, if you do Dancing With The Stars and you start feeling chemistry, the first thing you should tell yourself is ‘I don’t know if this is [real].’ Believe it, but I would have some skepticism around it,” he warned her.
Cheryl seemed to take his advice to heart and said she was being more cautious with boundaries this time around.
