Earlier this week, the NBC co-anchor took to Instagram to post several photos of his son. The first one shows Nick packing his belongings into his car. He wore a Captain America T-shirt with black pants. The second photo shows Al Roker and his wife Deborah taking a photo with their son.

The following photos show Nick’s journey to college. He registered for his classes and got acquainted with the campus. His parents are proud to see how far he’s come along. Al Roker couldn’t help but feel emotional about this big moment.

“I guess this is happening. Taking the last one to college,” Al Roker wrote in the caption. “So proud of one @nickroker155.”

He got praise from his fellow NBC colleagues. Dylan Dreyer commented, “Oh my gosh it’s happening!!!! GO NICK!!!” Hager Molly added, “Wow. So incredible. Hooray Nick! Hooray parents!!” Sheinelle Jones wrote, “Yay!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️”

Holly Robinson Pete felt what Al Roker and his wife were probably feeling. She wrote a series of sad-faced emojis, in response to that Nick’s growing up and leaving the nest. Good Housekeeping reports that ABC World News Tonight host David Muir wrote, “Go Nick!” and ABC News correspondent Rebecca Jarvis added that she’s “so happy seeing this.”

Today host gets major support from fans

Even the fans showed some love for Al Roker’s son in the comment section. One wrote, “Congratulations! Enjoy every minute!!! I know how emotional this day is for Mom and Dad!!!” A second added, “Congratulations, Nick! Enjoy and have fun creating many memories and lasting friendships.” A third commented, “Have a great year Nick!!”

This comes after Al Roker seemingly snubbed fans during a live broadcast on the morning show. The moment happened when Brenden Urie performed on the outdoor stage. His fellow co-host Hoda Kotb danced with the fans and spoke to them. As for Al, he walked by as they shouted his name. It’s possible that he didn’t hear them.
