Jenelle Evans‘ Return To MTV Axed, What Went Wrong?
The tease for the upcoming Teen Mom reboot aired, and it shocked fans when Jenelle Evans popped up in the trailer. With everyone wondering what this means for Evans and MTV, there is some bad news.
Jenelle won’t be returning to MTV and the reunion between the former Teen Mom star and the franchise that made her famous won’t happen after all.
Jenelle Evans won’t be returning to MTV
Despite appearing for a split second in the Teen Mom reunion trailer, Jenelle won’t be back on the show and she won’t be appearing in a spinoff on MTV. Her manager August Keen told TMZ that Jenelle and MTV couldn’t agree on terms for her return. The manager said MTV wanted Jenelle under an exclusive deal and she wasn’t willing to give up other career opportunities to sign that deal.
MTV previously fired Jenelle Evans and her husband David Eason after they aired footage of David taking their puppy outside and killing it. David claimed the puppy nipped at their daughter Ensley’s face and that is why he shot it. According to reports, MTV production team members showed fear of going to the house to work with them because of David, and this was just the last straw.
With that said, Jenelle reportedly has another opportunity coming up. Her manager said that she has “a new dynamic series in development, keeping the concept under wraps for now” and that a “major network” will pick up the new show. He finally said that Jenelle has built her brand as an entrepreneur and signing any exclusive deals made no sense.
Teen Mom reboot coming without Jenelle
With or without Jenelle Evans, the Teen Mom reboot is coming. The show is Teen Mom: The Next Chapter and will feature Briana DeJesus, Catelynn Lowell, Amber Portwood, Jade Cline, Maci Bookout, and Cheyenne Floyd. The first trailer also showed a tease of Jenelle arriving at an event, but even if she shows up on the show, it will just be for a small appearance.
As for Jenelle Evans, most fans figured that the return to MTV wasn’t happening, and others questioned the new show actually getting picked up by a major network.
“I’m not sure if I find her having a manager or being an entrepreneur funnier,” one person wrote on Reddit concerning the story.
“She said all of this the first time they fired her. She had all these deals with Netflix waiting for her with other networks, but really, she only had a YouTube channel,” another pointed out.
Finally, one fan thought MTV would take Jenelle Evans back without her husband, writing, “Did anyone actually think she was returning to TM?! If she left David, MTV would take her back in a heartbeat. They probably miss Barb.”
