‘DWTS’: Peta Murgatroyd Gets Raw About IVF Challenges
Since Peta Murgatroyd opened up about her fertility issues and miscarriages this summer, she’s been determined to conceive through IVF treatments. It’s been a long journey for the dancer and her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy, but they have each other to lean on.
Now that Peta and Maks are wrapping up IVF, they’re hoping to have exciting news to share very soon. But in the meantime, Peta is giving fans a real and honest look at IVF treatments and what she thinks is the “hardest part.”
According to Peta Murgatroyd, IVF can be incredibly painful
Earlier this summer, Peta made the brave choice to tell the world about her miscarriages. It’s been a difficult process, but she isn’t giving up hope. That’s exactly why she and Maks opted for IVF treatments. And according to the dancer, it hasn’t been a walk in the park.
On her Instagram stories, the 36-year-old dancer revealed that the end has been pretty rough. But with the help of her family and a great healthcare team, things are moving in the right direction.
“I looked at the injections and I’m like, ‘Holy crap,’” Peta said in the video about the needle, as reported by Us Weekly. “It’s really big.”
Maks managed to help her, but once Peta had to give herself the injection without help.
“I’m flexible, but to bend my back around to get the meatiest part of the butt is f–king challenging,” the dancer revealed. And of course, taking an injection through a massive needle probably doesn’t feel very good. Peta said that her five-year-old son Shai gave her strength to carry on.
“I look at him and I want 4 more babies,” the DWTS pro continued. “He is my everything and I cannot wait to give him a brother or sister.”
The dancer suffered a traumatic miscarriage midseason
Peta originally announced that she suffered through three miscarriages in the past few years, but the process was more emotionally traumatic than she let on. More recently, the Australian dancer revealed she actually miscarried while competing in Season 29. That year she was paired with Vernon Davis. In order to protect her own mental health, Peta only chose to tell Maks about the miscarriage at first. She didn’t want her dance partner or colleagues at DWTS to know.
“I just knew something was wrong and then it happened. It was midseason, I was still dancing, I was still on the show and it was very traumatic, it was awful,” Peta recalled the incident on the Infertile AF podcast. She wasn’t sure what to say, so she just kept it to herself for a little while.
Dancing With The Stars fans hope that Peta’s prayers will be answered soon enough. Until then, fans will patiently wait for more news from the dancer. Stay tuned for more.
