Amazon’s ‘Paper Girls’: Stream It Or Skip It?
A thrilling sci-fi tweenage drama named Paper Girls dropped into Amazon’s streaming library on July 29th, 2022 and subscribers are wondering if they should stream it or skip it. What is Paper Girls, anyway?
At first glance, the name Paper Girls is a bit of a head-scratcher. Technically, the series is about paper girls. Girls who deliver papers. Tweenage girls who get up before the sun to hop on their bikes and deliver newspapers. Now, that description does sound pretty bland. The series, however, is so much more complex than just being about a group of almost teenage girls delivering newspapers.
Admittedly, this Amazon series is a bit of a slow starter. So, if you watch a couple of episodes of the series and aren’t really understanding the hype — you are not alone. A lot of viewers on social media admit they weren’t really sure they liked the series during the first few episodes. Somewhere between Episode 3 and Episode 4, however, the creators really cranked things up a notch and things get interesting.
The series is an adaption of a comic book
The series is an adaptation of a comic book series that was released on October 7, 2015. The comic book series concluded on July 31, 2019, with 30 issues. The comic was written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Cliff Chiang. It was on July 11, 2019, that the TV adaptation of the series was announced. The series was released via Amazon on July 29, 2022.

Paper Girls follows the story of four 12-year-old newspaper delivery girls (Erin, MacKenzie, KJ, and Tiffany) set in Stony Stream, a fictional suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. As they are out delivering papers on the morning after Halloween, the town is struck by an invasion from a mysterious force from the future.
Should you stream it or skip it?
The answer to this question really depends on how well you handle cliffhangers. In the grand scheme of things, Paper Girls is an incredible sci-fi thriller that you should absolutely stream. There, however, is only one season of it on Amazon. And, the season is just eight episodes long.
So, if you are looking for a complete story with all questions answered, this may not be a series you want to stream right now. In fact, Season 1 ends on a massive cliffhanger with the fate and future of the four paper girls hanging in the balance. Moreover, Season 1 comes to an end with fans left to wonder what happened to some of the paper girls.
