‘Given’ Anime English Dub Now Streaming On Crunchyroll
Anime fans that love drama, emotions, and music would have surely heard of the popular series Given. On the surface, the premise of this anime series is fairly simple, but it dives deeper than viewers realize. From dealing with the loss of a loved one to carrying on the passion for loving something, Given is an explosion of emotions. However, it is put together in a subtle yet powerful form.
Given Manga English Dub Premieres On Crunchyroll
However, until now, anime was only available in the Japanese language. But there is good news for fans now. On Friday, Crunchyroll announced that its streaming platform will now have an English dub for the popular anime series. Created by Natsuki Kizu, the Given manga English dub premiered on August 1 at 5:30 p.m. EDT on Crunchyroll.

The cast of this anime comprises popular names, including:
- Jonah Scott as Akihiko Kaji
- Josh Grelle as Ritsuka Uenoyama
- Brandon McInnis as Mafuyu Satou
- Chang as Haruki Nakayama
David Wald has directed the English dub of the series at Studio Nano, with Peter Hawkinson as the ADR engineer. Madeleine Morris and Marissa Lenti penned the script for the series under Wald’s supervision. Jennifer Alyx took charge of the ADR prep while Shosuke Akamatsu served as the production assistant. The series was produced by Michelle Rojas.
Given Is First Of Its Kind Boys-Love Manga Anime
As per Anime News Network, the TV anime first premiered on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block in the Japanese language in July 2019. This anime is the first of its kind based on a boys-love manga premise to air on the programming block.

As described by Crunchyroll, the story’s premise reads:
“Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal…
That was until Ritsuka Uenoyama randomly met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life, but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart, and the distance between them starts to change.”
Given Features Music By Solo Project Centimillimental
Hikaru Yamaguchi from Escha Chron fame directed this Japanese anime at studio Lerche. Yuniko Ayana from Girls Beyond The Wasteland fame oversaw the creation of the series scripts in Japanese. The popular opening theme song ‘Kizuato’ is performed by Centimillimental, a solo rock project. Apart from that, the ending theme song, ‘Mirutsuke,’ is performed by the in-house group and was produced by Centimillimental itself.

The Given manga is also serialized by Shinshokan’s Cheri+ magazine. The manga series released Volume 7 on December 1, 2021. SuBLime by Viz Media has licensed the manga series & its fifth volume in English will be ready for fans by September 14, 2022.
The manga anime adaptation happened in May 2020 in Japan. Fans can now stream the English dub anime on Crunchyroll.
