Peta Murgatroyd Updates Fans On Her IVF Journey — How Is She?
Recently, Dancing With The Stars pro Peta Muragtroyd made the brave decision to open up about her fertility issues. She and her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy have one son but would love to have more. Sadly, the couple suffered through three miscarriages in the last couple of years.
But Peta and Maks remain hopeful and refuse to give up on their dreams. They decided to go through IVF treatments, which they’re nearing the end of. Keep reading to see what Peta had to say about the journey so far and how she feels.
Peta Murgatroyd has great news to share about her IVF treatments
Peta Murgatroyd absolutely loves being a professional dancer. But even more than that, she loves being a mother. She and Maks have a five-year-old together, Shai. But for years, the couple has longed to give Shai a sibling.
ET had the chance to speak with Peta about her journey with IVF treatments. And according to the dancer, things are going in her favor.
“It’s going really well,” the 36-year-old revealed. “We’re very excited. We’re kind of in the last stages of it. There should be — fingers crossed — a pregnancy pretty soon.”
She went on to say that her marriage with Maks is stronger than ever before and they can’t wait to welcome more children into their home. This probably also means that Peta won’t come back to DWTS this fall. Fans will miss her, but are happy she’s working on her family.
The couple wants to show others that they aren’t alone
Many of Peta’s fans appreciate how open and honest she was when she spoke up about her miscarriages. But the dancer admits she has struggled to be so transparent with her personal medical issues. The couple couldn’t decide whether or not they wanted to open up about IVF, but now they’re so happy they did.
“I was a skeptic to the openness of it, and [asking] ‘How open we want to be?’ Now I realize that the reason why people do struggle with it is because it’s such a taboo to talk [about it],” Maks told ET. “A lot of people need to understand that maybe it would bypass a lot of the drama if you know that this is an option.”
“It feels good to share it. It’s not like, ‘Oh look at me, look at me!’ It’s just, like, finally I can say something and not feel closed off, and not feel bad about it, and not feel alone. It feels good,” Peta added.
