‘DWTS’ Season 30 Snags Several Emmy Nominations
The newest season of DWTS will be here in just a few more months, so there’s a lot to talk about these days. In fact, there’s some pretty spectacular news to share — Dancing With The Stars received three Emmy nominations for some of the outstanding work during Season 30.
Keep reading to see which routines made the cut.
DWTS pro Daniella Karagach receives her first Emmy nomination
Daniella Karagach and Iman Shumpert made headlines when they won Season 30 together. Never before had a professional NBA player made the final four, let alone went home with the Mirrorball Trophy. And a lot of that had to do with his partner and choreographer.
Daniella has only been a pro dancer with DWTS for the past two seasons. But her outstanding work is finally getting recognized this year. She’s been nominated for an Emmy under the “Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming” category.
Overwhelmed with gratitude and the support I’ve received today and thought the seasons. I feel truly lucky to be in the same line up as the people I admire and look up to so much. I’m grateful to be a part of such a special family @officialdwts #Emmys #nominee https://t.co/xxTN5Hom3C

The routines gaining recognition are her Halloween contemporary routine to “I Got 5 On It” inspired by Us as well as her “Dark Fantasy” piece. The Us routine earned her and Iman a perfect score and solidified their place in the competition.
The other Emmy nominations for DWTS include “Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Series” and “Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Variety Series.”
Judge Derek Hough also has an Emmy nomination for his ABC special with his sister, Julianne.
The 2022 Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, September 12, 2022. Be sure to tune in to see how Daniella and Derek do.
The show transitions to Disney+, reveals the official season premiere
Many fans aren’t happy that DWTS will be on Disney+ instead of ABC this year. But at least the show came out and announced the official season premiere. Fans that want to tune into Season 31 can catch the season premiere on Monday, September 19 — just one week after the Emmys.
So far, there isn’t a cast list yet. But many hope that Daniella will return to the ballroom this fall. With an Emmy nomination and the Mirrorball Trophy under her belt, it seems like she really stands a great chance.
However, budgeting concerns and major pay cuts mean that many fan-favorite dancers probably won’t return. For now, fans will just have to stay tuned and wait for more news. There will probably more information available in the upcoming weeks.
