Ever since Mayim Bialik split her hosting duties on Jeopardy! with Ken Jennings, the actress has had mixed reviews from fans. While some did love her stint as a host on the show, others dubbed her rude. However, The Big Bang Theory alum is again in hot water after the recent episode on Jeopardy! with her as the host.

Mayim Bialik Hastily Declares Contestant’s Answer Incorrect

The producers of this long-running game show had to intervene and take charge of the matter. During the show that aired earlier this week, Bialik incorrectly mentioned that a contestant didn’t win their points. However, the contestant did win those aforementioned points.

The clue read: “From a Latin word for ‘to cloak,’ it’s the type of care given to seriously ill patients to provide comfort without curing.”

Picking up on the clue, Contestant Andie Huskie answered, “What is palliative care?” However, he did pronounce it differently. Before the time ran out, the contestant corrected his pronunciation and mentioned that the answer was “palliative care.”

Game Show Producers Intervene To Correct Mayim’s Decision

Before the contestant shifted to the correct pronunciation, the American actress started claiming that the word was wrong. Show producers quickly intervened as it aired, coming right in the middle of a Daily Double segment. This happened while another contestant was answering a different question.

As per New York Post, Bialik halted the game to confirm the decision taken by the producers for Huskie’s answer. She mentioned, “We have a score change and Andie, it affects you.”

She further added, “The judges have reviewed your response, and you corrected your response of ‘palliative care’ before I began to rule you incorrect. We will be adding $4000 to your score. That puts you in the lead.”

Reacting to this blunder by the host, a fan noted on Twitter, “Glad the judges overruled Mayim’s hasty ‘No’. #Jeopardy,”

Another added that the contestant had clearly started to correct himself before she ruled that he was wrong.

A third wondered, “Why does that keep happening. It messes up the whole game as the contestants get robbed of picking the next category and confuses the viewers at home. I thought I was wrong screaming at the TV and those around me, lol.”

A fourth confused fan wondered, “I was scratching my head on that one. He totally answered in time.”

Mayim Bialik’s Hurried Response Rubs Fans The Wrong Way

Bialik’s hasty responses to contestants previously cost her brownie points with the game show fans. Last month, the game show producers had to jump in to make another judgment call with contestant Megan Wachpress after Bialik cut her off too quickly.

The clue read: “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t do this.”

To this, Wachpress answered, “What is drink…what is make….”

However, Bialik jumped in a bit too quickly and declared the contestant’s answer incorrect before she even had the chance to correct her mistake. Wachpress went on to complete her answer by saying, “What is make them drink”.

Later, the contestant was awarded $400 for her correct answer by Jeopardy! producers.

Do you think Mayim Bialik is a bit too hasty when it comes to ruling the contestants incorrect? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Good God! Stop all the hating on Mayim. She does a fine job. I remember plenty of episodes with Alex Trabek needing to correct scores. Seems like people can’t tolerate a female Game Show host. I’ve never heard of anyone criticizing Alex or Ken about the cloths they wore or their hair style. Just watch the show and enjoy it for what it is. A game.

  2. Better to keep game moving rather than let contestants guess, then modify, then clarify…
Or add time for, “…is that your final answer?” (Didnt that came& went already?)

Judges step in! Its their job!

  3. Alex did this too – so what? Stop finding fault with her. I think it’s refreshing to have a female in the host spot.

    1. I agree, Alex made mistakes also! So does everyone, no one is perfect! I really like her as the host, give her a break!

  4. She is not the right person to host Jeopardy. As I work at a TV station one of my jobs is to correctly edit Jeopardy after it is downloaded and I watch it while I do that I have seen multiple mistakes by her and not really by Ken Jennings including stating that spelling matters in Final Jeopardy. To be clear Alex said multiple times if the spelling is close and it is clear what the answer was it counts

  5. Please get rid of Mayim. She is not a serious contender. Behaves like she is “acting” as a host. To her it’s a joke.

  6. Loved her in “The Big Bang Theory” and “Blossom” but she is not a great choice for the host of Jeopardy.

  7. I love maxim,she’s a great host.if you don’t like her quit watching.keep up the good work mayim.god bless

  8. Matin is doing a great job, nobody is perfect, even Alex made mistakes.
I like her way better than Ken
    Stop the wineing

  9. I think we all need a break at times Alex was wonderful whoever host this show has big shoes to fill, be understanding. After all don’t we all want a little understanding at some time in our life.
