Love Island UK Producers Ban Books, Thong Bikinis & Bubblegum? [Love Island | YouTube]

The Love Island UK producers are tough. It’s not easy to stay eight weeks at the Majorca villa. Though the show may look like a lot of fun to fans, there are a lot of weird rules that take place in the dating series. For example, books, thong bikinis, and bubblegum are not allowed.

As TV Shows Ace previously reported, the islanders must follow the strict rules if they want to stay in the game. It’s not like an all-inclusive resort in which they can do what they want. They have to follow these rules in order to win the prize at the end of the season.

Islanders can’t wear thong bikinis

The hot ladies of Love Island can’t wear thong bikinis. Eve and Jess Gale told the Daily Star that while they can wear a bikini, they can’t wear a string or thong version. The producers have a limit on how small the swimsuits can be. The twins confessed that they brought some of their sexiest bikinis with them, which were immediately banned.

“I had that thong bikini that I wasn’t allowed to wear and you weren’t allowed to wear that Ann Summers one,” Eve said in an interview with the Daily Star. “I had a bikini and it was the real thong one like the Oh Polly ones, it wasn’t nude, but it was a thong.”

Her sister, Jess, said, “I was wearing an Ann Summers one and because it’s a family TV show they were like this is inappropriate.”

This might come as a shock to Love Island fans. Producers have no problem with the racy romps that take place in the middle of the night. Viewers were grossed out by one of the hook-ups that took place in the villa. However, the girls can’t walk around in barely-there bikinis

Love Islanders can’t wear designer clothing

That’s not the only strict clothing rule in the villa. The Islanders are often given plenty of clothing to wear as part of a special partnership with the show’s sponsors. This year, Love Island teamed up with eBay after being criticized for choosing fast-fashion brands. However, the Islanders can’t wear any designer clothing with brands, logos, or slogans.

Also, the girls can’t wear eyelash extensions or tanner. Both are taken away from them upon arrival. Love Island star Chloe revealed what she would like to have on the show with her. She confessed that she would love both of those items back.

“Fake tan and eyelash extensions. I was in for a right shock when I went in that villa because I’m fake tan and eyelash till I die,” Chloe told The Sun. “I went in there and they were like, yeah, you’re not allowed to fake tan because of the bedsheets.”

Books and bubblegum are also banned?

The weird list of banned items includes books and bubblegum. The Islanders are cut off from the real world, which means they can’t read books, magazines, or newspapers. The iconic “I’ve got a text!” has been heard, but that doesn’t mean the Love Islanders can use their own phones. They’re given a basic phone which is only used for the “I’ve got a text!” moments.

Bubblegum is also not allowed. Recently dumped Islander Ikenna revealed he had his taken away from him. If they want fresh breath, they will have to brush their teeth. The show also doesn’t allow the Islanders to eat while filming.
