Trace and Lawson are two of Kelly and Gil Bates’ 19 kids. Lawson was born fourth and Trace is the eighth. Lawson will celebrate his 30th birthday in July, while Trace is 25 years old.
Now, the brothers’ recent alleged activity is being called into question.

On January 6, 2021, many people traveled to Washington, D.C. to storm the Capitol building. At least 2,000 people made it into the building.
After this happened, a couple of snaps of Trace and Lawson Bates were posted online. It looked as if the pair was at the event, though it wasn’t confirmed.
Now, the photos have popped up online once again. This time, Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball is sharing what she knows.
She reports that Lawson and Trace claim that they were only at the protest and not involved in storming the Capitol building. She writes, “They claim they were only at the protest. We know now that the protest is what became the attack on the capital as protestors walked to the capital.”
Then, she mentions the current investigations, noting, “Through testimony we are learning that this day was a coordinated effort by numerous people to overthrow the election.”

Though these pictures of Trace and Lawson Bates exist, the family has not said anything about the situation. And they are not responding to fans’ questions, either. Fans are also accusing the brothers of deleting any social media comments asking about the insurrection.
So, it’s unclear if we will ever learn the truth about the whole ordeal. Some fans wonder if these pictures ultimately led to the cancelation of Bringing Up Bates.
It looks like Lawson and Trace may be attempting to deny that they were there. For now, we don’t know whether they were there, but many believe these photos are sufficient proof.
