Amazon Makes Shocking Decision On ‘The Boys’ Future
Supernatural fans can’t get enough of Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy in Amazon Prime’s superhero drama series The Boys. And sure enough, this could be a big reason for the show’s popularity. It garnered a whopping 17% increase in its viewership from Season 2. Less than 2 weeks after Season 3 was released, Amazon Prime Video has signaled the renewal of this hit series.
Karl Urban Accidentally Confirms The Boys Season 4 Renewal
Moreover, the renewal for Season 4 was confirmed after Karl Urban accidentally spilled the beans at the SXSW Studio. The 50-year-old New-Zealand actor mentioned that the shooting for the season was on. This revelation came even after the production was done with the Season 3 shoot.
Created by American writer & television producer Eric Kripke, The Boys is based on a comic series of the same name by Darick Robertson and Garth Ennis. The show is a unique take on the generic superhero dramas with a twist. The superheroes in this new world order aren’t influential or have god-like personalities. When heroes go rogue or start abusing their powers, they have a multibillion-dollar conglomerate to help them. The Seven and Vought keep their dirty secrets safe.
The Boys Garners 17 Percent Increase In Viewership
Talking about the success of the series, Amazon confirmed that The Boys saw a 17 percent viewership increase. This happened in a mere 3 days of Season 3 being aired. The global numbers for the series are much more exciting. The increase in viewership from Season 1 to Season 3 is a whopping 234 percent. This big number surely calls for renewal.

The OTT series also saw a change in format. In Season 1, all 8 episodes were dropped at once. For the second & third seasons, the makers decided to drop 3 episodes in one go, followed by one each week. As per reports by Meaww, this variety is what got the series a major bump in viewership.
The Animated Spin-Off
Given the success, the series also welcomed a spin-off animation named The Boys Presents: Diabolical. The latter is an anthology that brings together certain aspects of the Vought International world, The Seven, & The Boys. Although the spin-off draws its base from the series, it doesn’t connect with it much.
Jensen Ackles Adds Charm To Soldier Boy’s Character
The cult-classic Supernatural ended after completing 15 seasons. Eric Kripke surely made a wise decision by bringing on board the fan-favorite Jensen Ackles. The actor is popular for his Supernatural character Dean Winchester. Jensen plays the character of Soldier Boy, who is a Supe who yearns to join the Seven. Although the character doesn’t share the same superhuman strength as Stormfront or Homelander, he is relatively strong.
As seen in the comics, Soldier Boy has an oblivious and innocent nature. However, Jensen Ackles’ personality isn’t the same in the OTT adaptation. His character is worse than Homelander.
Are you excited for the upcoming season of The Boys? Do you think Jensen Ackles is the cherry on top of the cake?
