Jeopardy! fans aren’t feeling Ryan Long’s latest win. The contestant is the latest champ of the quiz show. He won Friday’s episode after his impressive $12,999 bet during the Final Jeopardy round. Most contestants don’t make such big wagers, especially if they know the answer.

They’re usually humble and add a little to their bank. However, Ryan has been playing the game differently from his fellow contestants and champs. He’s made big bets during the final round of the show. Some fans are saying they are no longer impressed and think he has an unfair advantage.

Ryan Long is here for the long haul

Ryan Long is a rideshare driver from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He’s proven that he’s here for the long haul on the popular game show. In the latest episode, Ryan managed to beat out his fellow contestant Aaron during the Final Jeopardy! question. Some fans think he has an unfair advantage when it comes to his competitors.

Ryan still beat out Aaron when it came to a question about sports. Jeopardy! fans took to Reddit to discuss the latest episode. Ryan has successfully won game after game. However, some fans think Ryan had an unfair advantage over Aaron since he loves sports.

“I think during lunch that day even said out loud, ‘Well, clearly Ryan’s areas of expertise are in sports, movies, and history,” one fan wrote.

“When the Final Jeopardy! for today got revealed, I knew he was going to go all-in,” a second user added.

“Once I saw the word ‘sports’ I knew he’d not be able to beat Ryan,” a third one admitted.

Other fans were shocked that Aaron had a bet of $0. Meanwhile, Ryan wagered on a staggering $12,999. That put him ahead of Aaron and put him back on the map as the current Jeopardy! champ. So far, he’s won 11 consecutive games.

The Jeopardy! champ shouldn’t have won?

The conversation took a turn in the lengthy Jeopardy! thread. Some fans mused whether Ryan should’ve won that round. They think it was skewed in his favor. Ryan’s opponent, Aaron, didn’t know the answer and refused to wager. However, it was of no big loss to him. On the other hand, Ryan bet $12,999 with his correct answer and is still the current reigning champ.

One Jeopardy! fan mused that if Ryan didn’t bet so high, he wouldn’t have won. However, some fans are still happy that he won the round. They’re happy about his wins. They love his big bets, knowledge, and wholesome stories.

  1. Why was his win–unfair?? So he knows sports–he didn’t know that would be the final Jeopardy subject ahead of time. Like they said very recently, the final Jeopardy topics are picked way in advance–months or more, way before Ryan was even on. Keep up the good work Ryan!!

    1. Totally agree. To think Jeopardy is giving advantages to some players is ridiculous. Get over it, he’s winning fairly.

  2. Ryan…YOU CONTINUE TO “KNOCK THEIR SOCKS OFF!!!!” I’ve never rooted for someone more!! Probably one of the most polite, unassuming contestants AND…KNOWLEDGABLE!! GO FOR THE WIN!!! franki

  3. Someone is always complaining about an unfair advantage. Give me a break! You know what you know. Good for Ryan that he’s a sports nut. So sorry Aaron you’re not. Not Ryan’s fault. Even when it was said Mattea had unfair advantage when a Canadian question was in final Jeopardy. Well very next day it was US History. Cry foul? Nah.

  4. He had to wager the way he did if he expected to win! If he didn’t Aaron would have won.
Keep going Ryan!!! You are a pleasure to watch.

  5. The comments in the first paragraph are so wrong and untrue I can’t believe anyone would write them or believe them, .Ryan has had his share of incorrect answers and close calls. The guy is a good player and likable human being. I think, like James Holzhauer and Austin Rogers, Alex would really like this guy.

  6. Is this the question about “Omaha”?

    It WASN’T that hard!

    I knew it!

    Quit belly aching!

He knew the answer or guessed the correct answer and won fair & and square!

  7. So he plays differently so why be upset? He is not breaking the rules. People will find fault with everything. This is what is wrong with our world so much thought of if you don’t do it my way it’s wrong.

  8. Ryan did not win unfairly. He was in danger of losing his title and had to bet the huge amount he did and it paid off. Jeopardy contestants win games by their knowledge and the luck of subjects chosen they know a lot about. I hope he continues his
    impressive winning streak.

  9. Isn’t that how the game is played? It’s mentioned numerous times the questions are selected months in advance, he won fair & square. Keep winning Ryan. Love this guy.

  10. Nice to see someone that needs the money win and be humble at the same time! I am definately a fan! Keep it up Ryan!

  11. I really like this guy. He seems so sincere, was having all kinds of money issues because of inability to work when he had Covid in 2021. He has had some Jeopardy finals where he has also bet zero dollars, so not quite sure why anyone would think his win was unfair.

  12. I love Ryan and am very happy for him and his great run on Jeopardy! He’s very sweet and humble and I hope he continues his winning streak!! I’m rooting for you Ryan!

  13. I like him. Seems like someone who hasn’t got too many breaks in life. I hope he make a fortune so he can take his son fishing anywhere he wants.

  14. Ryan deserved the win. The game is not rigged. Everything is determined weeks or months in advance. Ryan got lucky.

  15. No one has an advantage. It us luck of the draw. Either you know the topic or you don’t. Alot of people miss sport category questions. Especially women.

  16. Why is this unfair? The questions are selected months in advance. So he knows about sports & someone else knows opera etc. if this were the case then Jeopardy might as well go off the air. Not too long ago there was a question about the airport in Georgia being named after 2 former Atlanta mayors, so should anyone from Georgia be disqualified? I would never know that answer but its a fair question. Sometimes all this criticism is very frustrating. I hope Ryan keeps going!!!

  17. Ryan seems like a good guy. He seems to be a humble and gentle giant.I pull for him during every game. My husband knew the “Omaha” answer. Anyone who enjoys football and Jeopardy! knew that answer. Get off his back!

  18. Ryan won fair and square and could have lost even knowing the final answer. While it appears he is vulnerable and can be beaten, he’s still the champ. Still think Amy Schneider may be the best and hopefully we find out during the TOC.

  19. The questions are determined months before the contestants are determined.
He won fair and square, I think he’s a great contestant, he’s playing the game well.

  20. People need to get lives! Of course, he should have won. He knew the answer and Aaron did not. It’s that simple. The betting is strategic . He won and that’s that!

  21. I don’t see how anyone couldn’t love Ryan and his foggy glasses. I look forward to watching him play and root for him to win every time.

  22. I love Ryan.
He is a very smart man.
I love how far he has gone on this show…ALL HIS WINNINGS ARE WELL DESERVED!!!!!!!
I hope he can continue as we all hope the best for him…GO RYAN.

  23. I think Ryan is smart, and deserves every win he gets..I look forward to him playing and I hope he continues to win.

  24. I have seen past contestants wage more than he has. I don’t like the long runs and humungus payouts. Wish it was 5 wins only. However I am happy for Ryan. He didn’t have money for a wardrobe for the show.

  25. Enjoy Ryan! Winning is the whole point of playing. Audience learns something new every day watching this show!

  26. Enjoy Ryan! Winning is the whole point of playing. Audience learns something new every day watching this show!

  27. Who are the “Jeopardy Fans” that articles like this refer to? I think it’s just the writers trying to stir up controversy where none exists. The only thing I’ve noticed is that many of the contestants are not as competitive in the last few years. This was apparent when James H. was going for his records as well as several other champs since then. It’s been especially apparent this season when so many new record champs have emerged. This is not to take away from them as they were truly smart people, but so many times they lacked true competition.

  28. I really enjoy watching this streak winner who doesn’t showboat his celebrity. Wishing Ryan and his son a very happy vacation with his winnings!

  29. Jeopardy has always been corrupt. They control the categories, the buzzer, and which category has the daily doubles. No wonder the ‘chosen one’ nearly always wins. And sometimes they even accept a clearly wrong answer or don’t accept the correct one. Request for ‘More information’ lets them give the chosen one a 2nd chance. It’s just all too predictable.
