Former Counting On star Abbie Duggar is expecting her second baby! John-David Duggar and his wife shared their exciting news, as well as the due date. However, she’s fairly far along in her pregnancy, so fans are now trying to figure out why she waited so long to make an announcement. Keep reading to find out everything we know so far.
John-David & Abbie Duggar reveal baby number two is on the way.
In a new Instagram post on Sunday, May 8, which was also Mother’s Day, John-David and Abbie shared a couple of new photos with fans to announce their big news.
In one of the snaps, Abbie is standing in the grass in a light pink maxi dress and sandals. She’s holding her daughter Grace’s hand as the two of them smile for the camera. Abbie also has one hand under her baby bump.
In the second snap, Abbie is standing at an angle to show off her baby bump once again. She’s looking down as she poses for a photo.

Abbie Duggar wrote, “To the little girl who calls me Mommy and our little boy due in late summer, I’ll love you forever! 💖💖💖 #mothersday”
Why did they wait so long to make an announcement?
In their post, John-David and Abbie Duggar didn’t spill any details about why they kept the news under wraps for so long. If she’s due in “late summer,” she is likely due in just a couple of months.
It’s worth noting that many members of the Duggar family have continued to lay low since Josh was found guilty in December of 2021. So, this could explain why John-David and Abbie decided not to share anything publicly for so long.
On Reddit, Duggar Snarkers are talking about John-David and Abbie’s baby news. Many of them are wondering why she waited to announce her pregnancy.
One Reddit user points out, “assuming abbie is due in august, she seemed to keep it private for a while.”
Someone speculates, “I think the reason why is because she’s in the 2nd trimester now and her announcement with Gracie was in her 1st and her HG may have settled down as she progressed.”
