‘Young And The Restless’ Recasts Summer Newman With Allison Lanier
It was revealed that The Young and the Restless would be recasting the role of Summer Newman two months ago. She will be taking over soap veteran Hunter King’s place.

Saying Goodbye To Hunter King
Fans of The Young and the Restless know Hunter King as the actress who has played Summer Newman for years. She played the role from 2012 to 2016 and then reappeared on the show from 2018 until 2021.
King’s departure from the show last summer centered around contract negotiations. Michael Mealor, who plays Kyle Abbot on The Young and the Restless, was removed from the cast after contractual expectations could not be met. As a result, King’s character was nixed from the show as well. At the time, she told Soap Opera Digest, “I do hope to always have Summer in my life in some capacity. What that will continue to look like, I’m not quite sure yet, but I know that I hold her very near and dear to my heart.”

Unfortunately for fans, the answer is no. A new soap star is entering the arena.
Who Is Playing Summer Newman Now?
Allison Lanier will be taking on the role of Summer Newman, previously played by Hunter King. Prior to taking this role, Lanier has taken on a few smaller parts, including a recurring role on the Amazon Original Red Oaks. She appeared in six episodes of the show.
Lanier was also featured in a film called It Happened in L.A., which was screened at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. More recently, Lanier has appeared in smaller indie films, such as Fish Bones and Mia.

When she isn’t working on a film or television set, she enjoys taking artsy photos, which she posts on her Instagram. Now, Lanier has been announced as the next actress to approach the role of Summer Newman.
Allison Lanier Enters The ‘Young And The Restless’ Cast As Summer Newman
Kyle Abbot is Summer’s love interest on The Young and the Restless. His character is slated to return to the show on Monday, April 25. Word of Lanier’s casting comes just in time for the two characters to reunite.
This will be Lanier’s first daytime TV role. It has not yet been announced when she will appear on Y&R for the first time, but she will pick up right where King left off. I’ve never seen Allison’s acting, but she has a lot to live up to Hunter King was and is a wonderful actress, and I think management of Y&R made a huge mistake in 1st letting her go and 2nd not recasting her. She loved and loves the role of Summer, and should have been given the outages she wanted. It’s not like anyone else on that cast works full-time. They may have stints where the storyline requires it, but she’s pretty well a secondary character, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
