Will The Duggar Family Ever Return To TV After ‘Counting On’ Cancelation?

Fans have been wanting to know if the Duggar family will ever return to TLC or another network. Their two TLC shows have been canceled abruptly due to Josh Duggar’s multiple scandals.

First, the family had a show on TLC titled 19 Kids & Counting. The number changed over the years based on how many kids were born. It came to an end in May of 2015 after Josh’s molestation scandal was brought to light.

Later in 2015, TLC created a spin-off with the full title of Jill & Jessa Counting On. This show primarily focused on the Duggar family’s lives after the news of Josh’s molestations broke.

Fans were sad to learn that Counting On was canceled after Josh was arrested in spring 2021 for receiving and possessing child pornography. TLC ultimately decided to part ways with the famous family at that point. It’s worth noting that Josh wasn’t a part of the show, but his family was. This may be a sign that other networks want nothing to do with the Duggars altogether. So, this could influence whether any networks decide to feature the rest of the family on a show, too.

Could the Duggar family return to TV?

On Reddit, Duggar snarkers are discussing the possibility of the Duggar family returning to TLC or another network. Some believe that the Duggar family’s name is tainted by Josh’s wrongdoings over the years. Others think that a spin-off might do well. After all, many fans are still interested in seeing what Josh’s siblings and their children are up to.

One user says, “I could see TLC doing a show based on 2-3 of the married families.”

Someone else adds, “I see them doing yearly updates that go straight to Discovery+.”

However, plenty of others think that the Duggar family is completely out of luck when it comes to another show. One user writes, “I think they’re done, especially after that documentary series comes out.”

It was recently announced that a documentary on the IBLP (Institute of Basic Life Principles) is in the works by Amazon. This may expose some of the Duggars’ harmful beliefs, which wouldn’t be good for TLC or any other network interested in featuring them on a show.

At this point, it’s all speculation. So, we’ll have to wait and see what happens. It hasn’t been a full year since Counting On was canceled, so it may be too soon to tell what’s ahead.

So, do you think that the Duggars will get another show after two cancelations? Or do you think that their time on TV has officially come to an end? Share your thoughts in the comments section below. For more Duggar family news, come back to TV Shows Ace.

  1. With Up having cancelled Bringing Up Bates, a family that hasn’t had ANY scandalous news break. The Duggar’s don’t have a snowballs chance in hell of picking up another show on ANY network.

    1. The family have done nothing wrong, the one son has, and should be punished! The whole family does not support his behaver and have said so loud and clear. If an actor does something wrong he should and has been dropped, but not the whole series; as has happened on various other TV shows or movies. The Duggar’s have a lot to offer to the good, so don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. This unfortunately is reality for many families, and they are showing how to still keep walking in faith which will help families watching how they should proceed. This show is advertised as reality show, and this happens in real families regrettably.

  2. You ask will the Duggars return to TV, I pray not, I am sick of the Duggars, and I am sick of Josh, if he will hurt children, what else will he do.

  3. I loved both shows. I would watch them if they had a spin off or returned to TV. As far as Josh goes, I believe there is a special place in hell for those who hurt and/or exploit children. He shouldn’t ruin it for the rest of the family. They are decent people. I believe in the good works that they do with mission trips. While I don’t understand why Josh’s wife Anna continues to stand by him, I do enjoy being able to watch his siblings’ families grow. I like how some like Jinger are becoming a little more modern while keeping their foundation grounded. Haters are going to hate no matter what.

Whatever happens with possibly returning to TV, I wish them the very best and hope they continue to keep their values.

  4. I have watched the two shows since the beginning of 19 and counting & counting on. I love the shows and families of the children and parents. What Josh Dugger did shouldn’t matter at all. He is a a very troubled man. However it has nothing to do with the rest of the kids and their families.
    Double yes bring it back!!

    1. The parent protected Josh over protecting his victims when he molested his sisters the parents are awful people too.
