Sister Misty Gives Tammy Slaton Health Update
When 1000-Lb Sisters Season 3 wrapped up, fans had a reason to be worried about Tammy Slaton and her health struggles.
Toward the end of the season finale, she bravely made the choice to check into rehab. But her siblings revealed that shortly after she had a medical emergency. Tammy almost lost her life.
“They’re just telling us that her lungs have given up, and like her body is shutting down,” Tammy’s older sister Amanda choked up in the episode. “So at this point, you know, we’re facing making funeral arrangements for my little sister.”
Thankfully, the 35-year-old did wake up and make an eventual recovery.
Today, Tammy is on a trach but did manage to go back to rehab. But what’s the TLC star up to right now?
Misty gives fans a brief update on Tammy Slaton and her rehab stay
Thankfully for Tammy Slaton fans, she and her siblings are all pretty active on social media. It wasn’t hard for fans to get in touch with one of them and ask for a Tammy update.
The oldest sibling, Misty, was willing to give a brief update on her little sister’s condition.
One fan asked how Tammy was doing, to which Misty responded: “She’s doing well, thank you.”
According to Tammy’s siblings, she lost over 100 lbs during her stay in rehab so far. However, some fans aren’t so sure that number is accurate.
But if rehab is helping her make healthier lifestyle choices and commit to change, then she’s making some progress at least. Hopefully, Tammy’s siblings continue to keep fans updated on her situation. We’ll fill you in as soon as we know more.
The TLC star seems to be doing physically and mentally better these days
One thing is certain — Tammy Slaton definitely seems happier since she checked herself into rehab. And that’s partially because she gave up her dangerous habits.
“I’m not an alcoholic anymore or a pothead I’ve been so over for over two mons now I don’t even Vape anymore,” she captioned a social media video.
As Season 3 drew to a close, both Dr. Smith and Dr. Proctor were alarmed to hear about Tammy’s partying ways. Thankfully, a friendly visit and chat with Dr. Smith helped her realize that she did want to go to rehab after all.
We don’t yet know if 1000-Lb Sisters will have a fourth season or not. However, fans would really like to watch Tammy’s journey as she finally makes some progress.

I sure hope so but I’m not holding my breath that after she decide to come out of rehab she’ll go back to her old ways.
I wish Tammy the best. I’m about 90 pounds overweight myself and know how difficult losing weight is.I find the heavier I am the more difficult losing weight is. I don’t think Tammy will stick to a diet unless she stays in rehab. She enjoys blaming and making everyone around her for reasons why she can’t lose weight. She is getting pampered in rehab and that will stop when she leaves and she will revert to same old Tammy

My head goes out to tammy and family. Whether Tammy’s behaviour towards her family wasn’t great but she was going through mental health issues as well as trying to please her family, fans and Dr’s. Notice i didn’t say herself because Tammy’s vision of body confidence and crying out for help and didn’t know how to ask. I hope the family are coping well with the experience they’ve been through. I wish Tammy and family best wishes for the future
I feel sorry for tammy’s family…she will use and manipulate them for the rest of her life…alway taking time from their families because she is jealous she doesn’t have her own..when she grabs little gabe she acts like he is hers…always taking, using, and manipulating amy….simply, she has made herself nothing but a thorn in her family’s side…will never end
You’re absolutely right & it’s so sad how she uses her family. I don’t wish on anyone, I truly hope that she gives up her old ways and changes for the better but she has to really want it for herself. I’m so proud of Amy because she’s grown so much and she’s such an amazing Mom to her son Gage.

Tammy listen take Accountability For your own actions. Why do you blame your family for your eating habits. No this is your life and you should love yourself more then you do. Pray and ask God to help you along the way, he’ll do it.
Tammy , I learned long ago that taking responsibility for you actions alone and by yourself is the only sure cure for your addictions regardless of what it is . So step up and just do the right thing .

I think the recent pics of her , shes looking good and with the makeup she looks to be feeling good. Keep going Tammy don’t give up and pass over any negative comments only read uplifting ones.
ABOVE all that’s being said, there’s a soul that deserves mercy and grace of all mankind. Tammy has a very pretty face that’s revealed since the weight loss has occurred; thus far. Obesity and Negatively don’t work well together. I think it’s worth the continuous support if she can show her thankfulness and respect to those who are yet willing be supportive and compassionate along the way.

Mental health is a terrible thing to have but being mean is not one of them. They say I won’t believe it till I see it. That’s the way I feel about Tammy.

Continuing with this show, and the need to create drama in order to keep viewers interested, is simply enabling her self-destructive behavior…she can’t stay in rehab forever.

Agreed its time to stop feeding Tammy’s ego…. keep the show and Amy and Chris who have worked so hard to achieve their goal. Which this show is supposed to be about and not about a selfish, manipulative , hateful, person who neither gives a Damn ,about herself let alone anyone else, or the medical fraternity that continued to save her life only for her to abuse them and all they gave done for her by simply, continuing to do her own thing as soon as she is able. Sorry but it is true, perhaps if you remove her ability to be noticed by all and sundry which she relishes, she just might, just might, realise no one wants to see her nasty ways anymore. And perhaps she might put more effort into herself.

It hasn’t been easy for her but I hope she stays strong. She really doesn’t have to prove herself to anyone, she just has to take care of her and I’m rooting for her.
I agree with you.. if Tammy gets to a weight loss that gets her approval for bariatric surgery that will give her hope to a healthy lifestyle I know that bariatric surgery isn’t a cure all ..but it can be if Tammy chooses to comply .. look at her sister Amy she has not done what she should have on her weight loss journey but…. She hasn’t gone back up on the scale like before her surgery.. if Tammy gets to that point like her sister I’m sure she will be alot better health wise at least until she and Amy really buckle down and reach their goal weight .. I wish Tammy well I think she will surpass her brother and sister with the weight loss and look hotter then her brothers and sisters after all Tammy has such a pretty face …
I hope there is a season 4. Despite the messy home, or torn clothes, this family is living how they were raised. , I would like to see the journey continue, towards improvements, in health, and moving on to better things, better than their youth

I agree! I’ve read that they all smoke, even Michael, and that is NOT a healthy environment for a baby, and now it will be 2 babies! Also, they need to clean up their language. Just think how bad it would be to see and hear Gage say, “What’s up, bitches?”

I think that if Tammy stays in rehab, and has her surgery, she can get to a place where she is healthy, and hopefully happy. She can also work on not being so mean, and learn to appreciate her siblings.

NO it wasn’t her choice. She had no one to coddle her at home anymore so, likely at taxpayer expense, she went into a rehab AGAIN. I’ll be encouraging when she takes responsibility for all of the nastiness she presents to her family and everyone around her. I’ll save sympathy and encouragement for people giving their heart and soul to change their conditions. She deserves none of that. It’s earned. She’s not pleasant nor encouraging to anyone else, either. She and her sisters are animal abusers, hoarders, child abusers (given home conditions for her babies) and con artists who hustled people for money pretending Tammy was dying. She sets a poor example for everyone with her rudeness. Because they’re on tv, they’re suddenly great? Nah…

Hoarders? Yes but they’re not abusers in any way. CPS wouldn’t take children from the home for their current mess nor would animal control. It needs to be far, far worse than that. Had a friend where you couldn’t see the floor due to all trash and CPS wouldn’t take those kids out of the home because dishes were clean, they were fed and had clean clothes.

I would be interested in the show like this but it turns out I really care about these girls and their lives. I am so proud of Amy and Chris they have come such a long way. And I know that strength in that bloodline flow through Tammy’s veins also. I’m sure sometimes you can be overwhelming for Tammy because she is so heavy. But I do know one thing with the help of God and the power of Prayer she can get through this. Give it to our lord Jesus and I promise you I promise you from the bottom of my heart that he will intervene and help you. Listen to your spirit and wake up each day with appreciation and a desire do you want to be loved and to give love and see the light in your life. You are beautiful Miss Tammy. I’m more interested in Amy and Michael cleaning their house and changing their sheets. I almost threw up when they moved that mattress.

I would love to see Tammy new successful in her weight loss journey, but unfortunately, with everything we’ve seen so far, I don’t think Tammy REALLY wants to lose the weight.
Even when told her weight could kill her if she didn’t change her ways and get serious about her weight loss by her first doctor, she lost a little, then gained back twice as much.
I feel sorry for her in that losing that weight must feel IMPOSSIBLE! Even is she dropped 300 POUNDS she’d still be GROSSLY OBESE, and hundreds of lbs over what would be a “healthy weight” for her. I can’t imagine how intimidating that could be, but she really needs to focus on TODAY and do it Day by day. Otherwise she’ll be likely dead, and that’s just so sad.
I started watching this show cause my mom LOVED them and would constantly tell me how great the show was. But since I’ve begun watching it, I’m not sure what she meant! Amy seems sweet and funny enough, but she too isn’t good at staying on a healthy diet. Both the girls are constantly talking about food! And they act as though the “Good food “ is the CRAP they would normal choose to eat, like deep fried foods or things like chips and Candy, which are OF NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE WHATSOEVER! They need to start villanizing their crappy food choices and start looking at the good choices, like fruit for a snack or a grilled chicken and rice and veggies sides as their REWARDS!!
They need to get honest with themselves that they NEVER should eat that crappy food again! There is No reason to eat all those empty calories and unhealthy foods! The only thing to be gained by doing so will be all the weight they have lost it are trying to keep off!
I really like Tammy! I know how hard it is to please everyone in a big family! Tammy will be great if she realizes she is the one she needs to work on. Don’t worry about any of the others but to just love them. You are the important one right now! Hang in there Tammy!
27 year Paramedic here. Two months cured alcoholism and drug use? That statement alone shows she has not learned a damn thing. I bet she is not home from rehab for thirty minutes before the party crew arrives. Stop giving this idiot a platform!
I think Tammy could never leave a nursing situation. She will need trach care, like suctioning and changing the trach as well as dealing with trach emergencies. I cant imagine Amy feeling up to that, Even with one baby, never mind two.

I don’t know the details of Tammies rehab but most rehabs are part of nursing homes or Care Centers and they can have skilled care which would give her the rehab part she needs to stay in a care center where she can be provided the care she needs from nursing staff as well as have people around her to encourage her I am sure that she suffers from depression there’s no way that you could not having the issues that she has and as well be alone and that’s what causes people with addictions 2 not do well
I would love for Tammy to lose the weight. I always shout out to my tv to tell Tammy “come on Tammy you can do it.” I would love for her to go swimming and do all the activities she enjoys because at least she is doing something positive and what makes her happy besides sitting down eating food. But I don’t see her doing much with her life.. Come on Tammy you can do it. Just keep moving.
As I have said a few times before because of Tammy being placed in a medically induced coma to give her lungs time to start working once again it is not uncommon for a morbidly obese person to lose a large amount of weight while in that unconscious state. She was unable to eat or drink anything but they did give her everything she required via IV therapy. Most Bariatric Surgeons can require a large weightloss before they will approve a surgery. I was only 90 lbs overweight but I had a number of health issues so I was approved 17 years ago for mine. This surgery should NEVER be taken lightly because those who do have it MUST commit to a thorough changing of their lifestyle. My ex-husband had it and gainwd back 2/3 of his weight back and 4 or 5 other friends gained it all back. I am still at my goal weight even though I have very little mobility these days BUT I do not ever want to feel like I did pre surgery. Please give Tammy a chance to understand why her family have been pushing her to get healthy. Let’s hope TLC will allow us to continue with Tammy on her long journey to better health.

I am not optimistic about Tammy’s progress. I don’t think she really wants to do the work she needs to do. Who else would have accepted being hauled around on the floor of a van and not done something about it a long time ago??

I only started watching this show about 6 months ago. I binged watched the early seasons to catch up. In time, I almost hoped Tammy wouldn’t be a part of the show. As someone that had 3 siblings that had excuse after excuse for their drug and alcohol addictions, and one extremely over weight she reminded me too much of a lifetime with loved ones that wouldn’t take responsibility as to why their life sucked and blamed everyone else. Always expecting someone to jump in and clean up their mess. And, when you finally get tired of being their doormat they turn on you and claim you are a horrible sister. I sincerely hope Tammy sees the light because I lost one brother in 2013 to his addictions, and one January 10th of this year to his. My sister is well on her way to the same fate. Tammy is still young and I sincerely pray she wants more out of life for herself.
