Riley Christian moving ahead with career plans after split
Just a few months after getting engaged on the Season 7 BIP finale, Riley Christian and Maurissa Gunn split up. They confirmed fans’ speculation by releasing a joint statement to People magazine in late January.
The statement only briefly confirmed the breakup and asked for privacy.
Life seemed to return to normal quickly for Riley Christian. He shared on social media his plans to open his own law firm, Christian Law. The Syracuse University grad has been updating followers on the firm’s progress.
On February 8, 2022, he posted a photo on his Instagram feed. In the photo, the reality star looks dapper in a grey suit, standing on the steps of what appears to be a court.
“Christian Law, P.C is coming together nicely. Stay tuned,” he shared in the post’s caption.
Aside from his career move, he hasn’t opened up about his side of the split.
Bachelor in Paradise co-stars speak out in Gunn’s defense
While Riley Christian has kept his silence on the reasons for the end of his relationship, Gunn’s BIP friends haven’t. Bachelor Nation alum Natasha Parker spoke briefly on the Click Bait podcast about her conversations with Maurissa.
Parker attributed distance and moving to a new city as reasons for the split. Maurissa Gunn made the move from Atlanta, Georgia, to New York City after the engagement.
Additionally, Season 7 contestant Demi Burnett spoke out about the split. According to Burnett, Bachelor Nation fans aren’t getting the real story behind the breakup. Her vague tweet about the media getting Riley and Maurissa’s split “SO WRONG” raised questions, but didn’t give any answers.

One of the first hints of trouble in paradise came around the Christmas holiday when Gunn removed photos of Christian from her Instagram.
On Wednesday, February 9, Gunn returned to the social media site to break her silence. “I’m back, baby,” she told her 304k followers. She alluded to the split when she admitted the last few months “haven’t been easy.”
However, she assured her followers that she’s feeling “better than ever.” In fact, she shared a late resolution for the new year. “This year I have decided to focus on ME and put ME first.”
The post included several photos of Gunn at a gym. She gave a shoutout to her trainer in the caption for “reminding me who the heck I was and believing in me to become the BEST version of myself.”
Gunn didn’t share specific details of what led to her and Riley Christian’s split. Maybe she never will.
