Roughly 15 minutes into the episodes, viewers were heartbroken and overwhelmed by the trauma Larry has suffered. According to the TLC personality, one of his sisters named her son after him and his father. Unfortunately, baby Larry was not very old when he passed away. Larry explained his sister got high one day and accidentally smothered the child with a pillow. The TLC personality fessed up to how difficult it was to be at a funeral with such a small cast member. Things didn’t turn around when Larry also ended up losing his sister. Months later, heartbroken over the loss of her daughter and her grandson, Larry also lost his mother.

Larry Myers revealed during a few different scenes in tonight’s episode that he once weighed just shy of a ton at 940 pounds. After an accident landed him in the hospital, he spent a significant amount of time in a facility where he lost some weight. After losing a bunch of weight, Larry was able to get weight loss surgery. According to an old news report on YouTube, Larry Myers once lost 700 pounds.

In the news report, Larry Myers reveals the death of his mother is what caused him to spiral which resulted in weighing nearly 940 pounds. After getting weight loss surgery and dropping down to less than 400 pounds, Larry also got multiple skin removal surgeries. Viewers that have already seen the episode were quick to take notice of the skin removal surgeries on his back during the episode.

It is unclear what caused Larry to spiral and gain back nearly 400 pounds. Some viewers speculate it could have been from unresolved trauma from all of the death he endured at a young age.

Did He Get Approved For Surgery?

  1. Almost 17 years ago when the different weight loss surgeries were in their infancy all patients who wanted to have the surgery had no choice not to get an intense psychiatric work-up. It took me well over an hour to complete.
So many people are quick to make a judgment call by saying ” that’s the easy way to lose weight”. That has NEVER been true. Dr Now tells his patients to seek out a psychologist to have someone be an objective bystander. But unless those sessions continue for no less than 12 months. I had my surgery on 03/25/2005 and I am only 3 pounds away from my original goal weight. Through the years since I have had several surgeries (6 on my back alone and a major surgery on my left leg when I fell and shattered my femur in 5 places). That surgery took me 9 months to be able to walk again and I still must use my power chair to go outdoors because I no longer have the stamina to walk 5 feet in any direction. My ex had the surgery but gained several hundred pounds back as well as several other friends. Several of them had new health issues arise that caused their weight gain and a few didn’t follow the strict nutritional guidelines. You MUST not take any NSAIDS because they will cause ulcers and you could bleed to death. You must also not drink anything carbonated because that will expand your stomach and before you know it you are eating more and more food. I also must take around 10 vitamin and mineral suppliments because you have a malabsorption issue post surgery because of the length of the bowel they remove. A benefit however is for me I don’r get sick as often as I used to. So easy it is not. Needing to be better evaluated prior to and post operativly definitely.
It is way too easy to get back into your old habits if you choose to ignore the advice from your Doctor(s). I pray everyone who had/has been thinking about having this type of surgery looks DEEP inside to face whatever demons you may be living with and face them head on. God Blees you all!!!

    1. Ummm first of all man that’s so rude….. Second of all you don’t say that to people be a little kind man

  2. My Mother abuse me, I was molested from the age of 6 to 14, was in 2 abusive relationship, ect. I’m not over weight. The things I went through no one should’ve. I wish the show would go back to like it use to and show surgery and after.

  3. Someone has always been around to brace him up. No favor to him. He had tragedy in his life for sure. He was given an enormous chance years back. Unfortunately, he needs counseling now! Until then, let’s pray he hears God’s plans

  4. He didnt want to do it,had a whole year to do so.weight melts fast off a large person from experience.it was him! He just wanted 15min.of fame and got and gave us 2hrs of b.s. wasted time,he seems abit mentally challenged stuck in the 5th grade mindstate and needs help there 1st.he didnt really want it,just physical company he miss like phone calls and visitors and desperate for attention he misses.

  5. At first I watched 600 lb because I couldn’t believe there was such a show. I kept watching as you would a car wreck on the road. I could never believe these people are photographed naked. I admit; I co ti ur to watch. However now I feel so sorry for these people. 99% of them have had horrific upbringings. It is so very sad. I hurt for these people that they are exploited like this. No one needs to see everything that’s shown. We need to pray for these desperate ; unhealthy people. Yes I watch the show and I pray for them. I’m not a psychologist but it’s obvious so many have deep seeded mental and emotional issues. I choose to pray for them and understand their issues and champion them for their success in their journey. God bless.

  6. I’ve been watching this show for years. I especially like to see “where are they now”. More of those shows , please!
