After Josh Duggar was convicted on two child porn charges, his legal team mentioned that they would be filing an appeal and continuing to fight this. Since he was found guilty on December 9, the former TLC star has been sitting in the Washington County Detention Center in Arkansas.

As it stands, he will be sentenced in a few months, though a date has not been set. He’s facing decades behind bars, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. Once he’s sentenced, he will go to a federal facility. There are none in Arkansas, which is where his family lives. He and his wife, Anna, will also not be allowed to have conjugal visits.

Because Josh is currently waiting for sentencing, there have been very few updates about his situation. A few details have surfaced here and there. For one, his wife has been “visiting” him frequently via video call. But she’s not allowed to see him in jail due to Covid protocol.

Anna is also allegedly struggling with the decisions she must make regarding her marriage. Many times, fans have urged her to divorce Josh. But it’s unclear what the future holds for their relationship.

Now, we finally have some new details about Josh’s case and what’s ahead.

Josh Duggar’s motion is granted by the court.

Josh’s team filed a motion to extend the amount of time they have to file an appeal. Originally, the appeal had to be in within 30 days of the trial ending, meaning the team had until January 9. However, they requested more time.

On Thursday, January 6, the motion was granted by the court. So, Josh’s team now has an additional 10 days to file an appeal, which bumps the date to January 19. At that point, the appeal will have to be in if his team wants the chance to fight the verdict.

So, until then, fans and critics will have to wait and see what happens and whether Josh’s legal team can successfully appeal. In the meantime, the Duggar son is waiting in the county jail. You can see the complete details about the unopposed motion here.
