Netflix is releasing a new, original dark comedy series titled The Woman in the House, starring Kristen Bell. The series comes from Gloria Sanchez Productions, the producers of Dead to Me and is coming to the streamer soon. Read on to find out everything we know about this exciting new project.

Kristen Bell stars in the new, upcoming dark comedy, The Woman in the House. The series was created by Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson and Larry Dorf, and produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions.

Of interest to note, Will Ferrell is listed as an executive producer, while the creative consultant is Marti Noxon (Sharp Objects and Dietland).

Plot and cast of the dark comedy series

According to the official synopsis, Anna is a heartbroken woman, for whom every day is the same. She sits with her wine, gazing out of her window, watching life go by without her. However, when a handsome neighbor and his daughter move in across the street, she starts to see light at the end of the tunnel. Meanwhile, this all changes when she witnesses a gruesome murder… or did she?

Kristen Bell plays the role of Anna and is known for her appearances in Veronica Mars and The Good Place. The role of Elizabeth is played by Appy Pratt (Rattlesnake, Jane the Virgin), while Tom Riley (Da Vinci’s Demons, The Nevers, The Collection) stars as Neil.

Besides creating The Woman in the House, Rachel Ramras (Nobodies, Mike Tyson Mysteries) plays the role of Eileen. Meanwhile, Christopher Chen (Young Rock, Criminal Minds, Curb Your Enthusiasm) plays Michael. The role of Rex is played by Benjamin Levy Aguilar (Spirit, Black Spot, Chicago P.D.), while Christina Anthony (Mixed-ish, Black-ish, Key and Peele) plays Detective Lane. Cameron Britten (Mindhunter, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, The Umbrella Academy) is in the role of Buell.

Moreover, Mary Holland (Happiest Season, The Package, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates) plays Sloane. The role of Lisa is played by Shelley Hennig (Unfriended, Teen Wolf, Ouija) while Brenda Koo (The Bling Ring, White Bird in a Blizzard, The Crazy Ones) is Carol. Karen Y. McClain (Blonde Ambition, The Newest Pledge, Christmas in Compton) plays the role of Margaret with Nicole Pulliam (Inception, Holes, Fashion House) as Claire. Last, but by no means least, the role of Emma is played by Samsara Leela Yett (The Flight Attendant).

The eight-episode dark comedy series completed filming on July 16th, 2021 and entered post-production on August 16, 2021. According to What’s on Netflix, filming of The Woman in the House took place in Los Angeles, California.
