Millie Bobby Brown in Netflix thriller The Girls I’ve Been
The Netflix Original thriller movie The Girls I’ve Been is an adaptation of the YA novel of the same title by author Tess Sharpe. Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown will star as the lead in the new movie.
On top of this, Brown will also executive produce through her production studio PCMA Productions. Also acting as executive producer is Ozark actor Jason Bateman, through his production company Aggregate Films. As we said before, Millie has sure come a long way since Season 1 of Stranger Things!
Plot of the new Netflix thriller movie
As described by Amazon.com, Nora O’Malley (Brown) has worn the faces of many girls. She is the daughter of a con artist who targets criminal men and grew up to be her mother’s protégé. However, when her mother fell for the mark rather than conning him, Nora escaped.
For five years, Nora has been playing the role of a normal girl, but now she has three problems and needs to brush up on her skills. This starts when her ex-boyfriend walks in on Nora and her girlfriend. It turns out while they are all friends, Wes had no idea about Nora’s actual relationship with Iris. From then on, everything goes wrong.
Cast of The Girls I’ve Been
As of now, Millie Bobby Brown is the only confirmed cast member. This makes a total of five Netflix Originals for the actress since her debut in July 2016.
Fans will remember her for her role as Eleven in the Stranger Things series and well as in Enola Holmes.
Production status and release date
The Girls I’ve Been have been in pre-production since July 2020. Reportedly, no director has yet been assigned to the movie. However, the production delays could, in part, be due to Brown’s busy film schedule.
Since the Netflix movie was first announced, Millie has been busy filming Season 4 of Stranger Things, as well as Enola Holmes 2.
She will also be starring and producing a new fantasy movie for Netflix, titled Damsel. While that project was announced several months after The Girls I’ve Been, it seems it is way ahead in terms of production status. Damsel already has a director, as well as a cinematographer and other crew members.
According to What’s on Netflix, filming of The Girl’s I’ve Been is only likely to start in 2022, with a 2023 release.
