TNT Sci-Fi Series ‘Snowpiercer’ Season 3: Release Date On Netflix, Details

As noted previously, Snowpiercer is returning for Season 3 and will drop on TNT and Netflix. If you don’t know the series, it tells the story of a dystopian future where the world is frozen over. The series was renewed before Season 2 even dropped and now we are getting closer to the third season. Read on to find out what we know so far about the last of mankind existing on a train.

Snowpiercer Season 3 on Netflix

The series Snowpiercer is an adaptation of the 2013 Bong Joon-ho movie of the same name that was itself adapted from a graphic novel. It first premiered in May 2020 after years of development and soon became a major hit with viewers.

When it comes to Netflix, Snowpiercer is available globally, with the exception of the US. There, fans can watch on its original home of TNT, or on HBO Max. Meanwhile, Season 3 will air in the form of weekly episodes. Admittedly, this is frustrating for those of us that like to binge a full season at one time!

The reason why it doesn’t air on Netflix US is that the series is distributed outside the United States by ITV Studios and not Warner Brothers, as with the US.

Fans have a lot of questions for the third season, especially after the explosive ending of Season 2. One thing to note right away is that Jennifer Connelly will be back on the series as Melanie, which is a huge relief for fans. Obviously, Daveed Diggs returns as Andre Layton, while Sean Bean is Mr. Wilford.

Of interest to note, besides the upcoming Season 3, the TNT series was also renewed in July 2021 for a fourth season.

Spoilers from Season 2

In Season 2 of Snowpiercer, fans learned that Mr. Wilford hadn’t died after all. He had successfully made it to a second and much larger train, Big Alice. Meanwhile, Melanie’s daughter, Alexandra, is with Wilford on the train. In the meantime, Andre Layton is struggling with leading Snowpiercer, while Wilford is determined to take the whole train back.

Whether Wilford will take control of the whole of humanity in Season 3 is yet to be seen. Hopefully, Layton and Melanie will be able to take him down.

When does Season 3 of Snowpiercer drop?

Production on Season 3 started in early March 2021, with the filming wrapped by the end of July 2021. The new season of Snowpiercer will debut on TNT on January 24, 2022. Netflix gets the episodes a day later meaning Episode 1 of Season 3 will drop on January 25, 2022.

Basically, as per What’s on Netflix, new episodes will drop on TNT on Mondays, while they arrive on Netflix internationally on Tuesday morning. Of interest to note, Season 1 of Snowpiercer is available on HBO Max, but it is unclear whether further seasons will drop there.
