Netflix Series Adaptation Of Michael Connelly’s ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’

Back in 2011, a movie adaptation of the novel The Lincoln Lawyer hit theaters, now another is heading to Netflix. Now, the novel by popular crime author, Michael Connelly, is being adapted as an Original series. While Matthew McConaughey won’t be in the lead this time, it is shaping up to be an exciting binge on the streaming channel. Netflix Original series The Lincoln Lawyer

As confirmed in January 2021, this second adaptation of Michael Connelly’s bestselling crime novel, The Lincoln Lawyer is heading to Netflix. The original movie adaptation by Lionsgate premiered in 2011 and had a $40 million budget, grossing just under $90 million at the box office.

The series is a spinoff of the movie, based on the novel The Brass Verdict in The Lincoln Lawyer series of books. Filming officially kicked off on Season 1 of the series on March 30, 2021. Meanwhile, production was set to run through to October 29, 2021.

The author took to Twitter again on August 3, 2021, to confirm that the filming of Season 1 was concluded in Los Angeles, California.

What is the plot of the Original series?

The story revolves around defense attorney Mickey Haller, famous for working out of his Lincoln vehicle. After a couple of years of wrong turns, things are finally looking up for Haller and he is back in the courtroom. In fact, he gets his biggest case yet when Hollywood lawyer Jerry Vincent is murdered. Haller works as the defense for Walter Elliott, a prominent studio executive accused of murdering his wife and her lover.

Homicide detective Harry Bosch is determined to find Vincent’s killer. Meanwhile, he isn’t exactly opposed to using Haller as bait. However, as the stakes rise, both loners realize their only course of action is to work together.

For those who got excited at the name Bosch, Connelly confirmed on Twitter that there will be no crossover with the other popular series of that name.

Main cast for The Lincoln Lawyer

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Magnificent Seven) will play the role of Mickey Haller, with Neve Campbell (Scream) as Maggie McPherson. The role of Lorna is played by Becki Newton (Ugly Betty), while Jazz Raycole (Jericho) plays Izzy. Meanwhile, Angus Sampson (Mad Max: Fury Road) stars as Cisco and Christopher Gorham (Insatiable) plays Trevor Elliott.

When will Netflix release the Original series?

With filming of the series only recently completed, the series won’t be landing on Netflix this year. However, according to What’s on Netflix, it is likely to drop in the spring or summer of 2022. Viewers can expect ten episodes, each with a run time of 60 minutes.
