Netflix K-Drama ‘Hellbound’ Keeps Halloween Going In November [TRAILER]
Fans of K-Drama, Netflix and Halloween should get ready for a terrifying November. Not long after the scary holiday, Netflix will release the terrifying series Hellbound. The new horror series comes from creator Yeon Sang-ho, who adapted it from a webtoon he made in 2002. Meanwhile, the series is firmly in the tradition of his hit horror movies Train to Busan and its sequel, Peninsula.
Hell comes to you in Hellbound on Netflix
In recent years, there have been several shows about divine angels heading to Earth to sort out us sinful humans. The new Netflix K-Drama horror series is in the same scary vein. Meanwhile, the story comes from the director and creator Yeon Sang-ho, with the help of Choi Gyu-seok. This new adaptation of his 2002 webtoon joins the ranks of his hit horror movies Train to Busan and its terrifying sequel Peninsula.
Of interest to note, the pilot of the series premiered at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2021. Moreover, the pilot was aired in the Primetime program of TV series, leading Hellbound to become the first K-Drama to make it to the festival.
What is the plot of the K-Drama series?
In the scary series Hellbound, the angels know exactly who needs to die, but this divinely ordained death is only the beginning. According to the official Netflix synopsis, unbelievably hellish demonstrations take place in the center of Seoul in front of the crowds.
First, mysterious beings appear to condemn individuals for their sins. Meanwhile, this is just the start as they are followed by more horrific beings. They turn up at the specified time to brutally and publically burn the condemned.
Ahead of the chaos resulting from these terrifying supernatural happenings is Jung Jinsu, the leader of an up-and-coming religious organization. Known as The New Truth, the organization claims that only sinners are marked for condemnation. Moreover, the leader insists that these killings represent the divine will to make humans righteous.
To make things worse, a group of his followers. called the Arrowhead, take matters into their own hands. Moreover, they personally punish those who go against the divine will, leading the world to become a living Hell.
However, Chairman Jung is challenged by Min Hyejin, a lawyer, who claims the hellish demonstrations are merely supernatural events. She joins forces with the few people who try to protect the Hellbound victims and to return the world to the realm of humans. Between them, they gang up to go against the chaos instigated by The New Truth.
When does the Netflix horror series Hellbound release?
The trailer, included here, clearly reveals the Hell that the people of Seoul are experiencing at the hands of the mysterious beings. Warning, those of a sensitive nature should probably avoid watching the clip below.
As noted on the official Netflix page, Season 1 of the gory thriller series stars Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo and Park Jeong-min.
