Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life on Netflix

The original series Gilmore Girls was a popular teen drama series, released in the 2000s on The WB. Netflix picked up the first season of its own spinoff to the series, which premiered on November 25, 2016.

Probably due to the show being originally released in November, rumors started doing the rounds that the second season would arrive in November 2021. Reportedly, this isn’t the first time fake news came out about Season 2 of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. A spam website had covered the story. To make things worse, IMDb added new episodes to the show with a 2020 release date. This was eventually proved to be false.

The latest rumor came from a website called WhenNetflix.com, which reports on every Netflix Original show. As per What’s on Netflix, the site then “guestimates” a release date for new seasons of the shows. In this case, the site reported that Season 2 would air on November 19, 2021. The news was then, reportedly, spread widely on social media and TikTok, likely to get views.

Will Season 2 release on the streaming channel?

Back in 2018, Amy Sherman-Palladino spoke to Vanity Fair, saying it was still a possibility. However, she added that everyone has been very busy, including Alexis Bledell. Amy pointed out that it would have to be the right story and the right moment.

Season one ended in a huge cliffhanger about Rory’s baby. In May 2021, Scott Patterson (Luke Danes) told Hollywood Life that he was “optimistic” about a second season of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. He said you need a cliffhanger if you want to keep viewers engaged.

Patterson said there was obviously a reason why they did that, which makes him optimistic about more episodes. He also stressed that they wouldn’t have done that (the cliffhanger) if they were ending the series. Scott added, “That would be a dirty trick, right?”

When asked what the second season would look like, Sherman-Palladino said it would definitely follow Rory’s motherhood journey. Amy added that Rory becoming a mother will bring the show full circle, with her mother Lorelai by her side along the way.

It should also be noted that Season 1 was enjoyed by viewers, with IMDb users giving it a 7.6/10. Meanwhile, 88 percent of Google users liked Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
