Netflix Original Series Based On Harlan Coben’s ‘Stay Close’: What We Know

Anyone who enjoyed the Netflix Original adaptations of Harlan Coben’s novels, The Stranger and Safe is getting a treat. They will now get to see an adaptation of his book, Stay Close. The same team is involved in the latest adaption of the #1 New York Times bestselling novel. Read on to find out what we know so far about the exciting series.

Netflix viewers already know author Harlan Coben’s work well, after seeing adaptations of his novels, The Stranger, Safe and The Five. Meanwhile, executive producers on the new drama series Stay Close are Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee. These long-time collaborators will be working alongside creator Harlan Coben and lead writer Danny Brocklehurst. Moreover, the production company on the project is Red Production Company.

The latest project is part of Harlan Coben’s current five-year deal with Netflix to develop 14 of his books into film and TV dramas.
What is the plot of the new series?
Stay Close follows three people living comfortable lives while each concealing dark secrets that even the closest to them would never suspect. One is Megan, a working mother of three children. Another is Ray, a once-promising documentary photographer, now stuck in a dead-end job pandering t celebrity-obsessed rich kids. Meanwhile, Broome is a detective, unable to let go of a missing person’s cold case.

Lorraine, an old friend from Megan’s past, reveals some shocking news that will impact all three of them. The past then comes back to haunt them, threatening to ruin their lives and the lives of those around them.
Cast of Netflix Original series Stay Close
The three main leads in Stay Close are Cush Jumbo (Deadwater Fell, The Good Fight, The Good Wife), James Nesbitt (Bloody Sunday, The Missing) and Richard Armitage (The Stranger, The Hobbit, Hannibal). The cast members will play Megan, Broome and Ray respectively.

Other stars include Eddie Izzard (Hannibal), Sarah Parish (Bancroft), Daniel Francis (Small Axe) and Bethany Antonia (Get Even). Also starring are Rachel Andrews (Butcher Boy), Poppy Gilbert (The Pale Horse) and Hyoie O’Grady (Mayday).
Latest status of the Original series
The Netflix Original adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel Stay Close will be an eight-part limited series. According to Production Weekly, the series entered production on February 15, 2021, in Manchester, UK. Filming took approximately six months in Manchester and the North West region of the UK. Production on the series officially wrapped on July 30, 2021.

In October 2021, Netflix announced that the series Stay Close will arrive globally on the streaming channel on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2021.
