In fact, filming will start in November this year. Golden Globes winner and Oscar nominee David Fincher will be directing the movie. Fincher has directed a number of critically acclaimed films, including Se7en, Gone Girl, The Social Network, Mank and Zodiac.
Fincher is reuniting with the Se7en writer Andrew Kevin Walker for the new noir thriller. Walker was the writer for the Oscar-winning The Wolfman and the 1999 film Sleepy Hollow. Fincher has been working almost exclusively with Netflix for the last five years. However, he only officially signed a four-year deal with the streaming channel in November 2020. Some of the major Netflix hits that Fincher has been involved in include Mank, Love Death & Robots, House of Cards and Mindhunter.
About the Netflix Original movie The Killer
The Killer is based on the French graphic novel of the same title by Alexis Nolent, writing under the pen name Matz, and artist Luc Jacamon. The graphic novel’s first volume was published in 1998, with the latest volume published in 2018.
The killer is a solitary and methodical man, unencumbered by regrets or scruples, waiting in the shadows for his next target. However, the longer the assassin waits, the more he believes he is losing his mind and his cool.
The film tells the brutal, stylish and bloody story of a professional assassin, lost in a world without a moral compass. It is the case study of a lone man, armed to the teeth and slowly losing his mind. However, he also develops a conscience along the way.
The cast of the Netflix Original noir thriller is led by Golden Globe and Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender as the titular killer. The actor has starred in a number of major films, including 12 Years a Slave, X-Men, Steve Jobs and Macbeth. According to What’s on Netflix, the role was originally supposed to go to Brad Pitt.
When can we expect the movie?
The Killer was originally to start production in September this year. However, after a setback, production will now start on November 1, 2021, and run through March 2022. For this reason, the movie is will premiere on Netflix in the second half of 2022 or early in 2023.
