Netflix Releasing Mike Flanagan’s ‘Midnight Mass’: Premiere Date, Trailer
Mike Flanagan directed and created the terrifying Netflix series, The Haunting of Hill House and is now bringing Midnight Mass to the streaming channel. The new horror series is set to drop on Netflix later this month. Midnight Mass is set to be the fourth horror series created by Mike Flanagan for Netflix. He will be working alongside Trevor Macy and Jeff Howard as executive producers. Read on to find out everything we know about the series so far.
Netflix and Midnight Mass
The synopsis tells of the return of a prodigal son, Riley Flynn (Zach Gilford) to his remote island hometown. It is clear he has been through some kind of trauma while living in the big city. One family member, Annie (Kristin Lehman,) greets Riley with open arms. However, as he has a tarnished past and reputation, the rest of the community is less than welcoming.
However, locals soon forget Riley as the town’s eerie quiet is interrupted again. This time it is disrupted by the arrival of Father Paul (Hamish Linklater), a wandering priest. He turns up in town and starts giving sermons to any locals willing to listen to him. While initially, Riley is skeptical of the priest, he does take him up on his offer, as he feels he has little to lose.
It becomes clear that inviting Father Paul into their lives has opened the town up to something unholy. While the father does bring forth actual miracles, the town experiences the sudden deaths of several animals in the town.
Cast of the limited series
Besides Gilford (The Purge: Anarchy, The Last Winter, Dare) and Linklater (The Big Short, Battleship, Fantastic Four) a wealth of other stars will appear. However, so far, Netflix has not revealed the actors’ roles in the series. Fans will get to see Kate Siegel (Hush, The Haunting of Hill House, Gerald’s Game) and Annabeth Gish (Mystic Pizza, Nixon, Beautiful Girls).
