‘Pokémon The Movie: Secrets Of The Jungle’: Netflix Release Date

Anyone that loves Pokémon content can look forward to a new movie on Netflix this year. The streaming channel has recently announced that Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle is coming soon. Read on to find out more about the 23rd Pokémon movie, the plot and the upcoming release date.

Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle on Netflix

As noted by Polygon, the 23rd movie in the much-loved Pokémon franchise is coming soon. An internationally licensed Netflix Original anime movie, Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle offers plenty of excitement and fun in a lush and beautiful jungle setting.

The Pokémon movie premiered in Japan in December 2020. The anime film was then due to release on Netflix in July that year. However, the global pandemic delayed the release of the anime movie. The good news is, Pokémon fans won’t have too long to wait as Secrets of the Jungle will be ready to stream on Netflix on Friday, October 8, 2021. Despite the delay, the anime film will more than makeup for it. The film will be globally available on Netflix, with the exception of China, Japan and South Korea.

What is the anime movie about?

In Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle fans will meet Koko, a young boy raised in the jungle by a solitary Zarude. Koko makes friends with Ash and Pikachu during one of their adventures. The young boy discovers the human world for the very first time and learns the truth about his past.

Secrets of the Jungle takes place in the eighth generation of Pokémon and features the new mythical character Zarude. Fans will remember that Zarude was revealed on Pokémon Day 2020. Meanwhile, the anime movie has a runtime of 99 minutes.

Who is behind the voices of the characters?

A number of familiar names are behind the voices of the characters. Ash Ketchum is voiced by a Japanese voice actor, Rika Matsumoto and the character is dubbed into English by Sarah Natochenny. The character Pikachu is voiced in Japanese and English by Ikue Otani. Megumi Hayashibara plays the Japanese voice behind Jessie, while Michele Knotz reads the English dub. Shin’ichiro Miki is the voice behind James, with James Carter Cathcart dubbing into English. The latter is also the English voice of Meowth, whose Japanese voice is Inuko Inuyama.

Meanwhile, Yuji Ueda is the Japanese voice behind Wobbuffet, with Michele Knotz dubbing into English. The film’s narrator is Kenyu Horiuchi in Japanese and Rodger Parsons in English. Moreover, the character of Delia Ketchum is voiced in Japanese by Masami Toyoshima, and English by Sara Natochenny.

Details are not currently available for the English dubs of the following characters. Zarude is voiced in Japanese by Nakamura Kankuro VI, the character Koko by Moka Kamishiraishi and Dr. Zed is backed by Koichi Yamadera.
