Netflix: ‘You’ Season 3: Release Date, What We Know Right Now
Shortly after Netflix released Season 2 of You, the streaming channel renewed the psychological-crime drama for a third season. A huge reveal came from Netflix about Season 3 after filming was concluded in 2021. Read on to find out all we know about the third season of You including the release date.
You on Netflix
Season 2 of You was viewed by more than 54 million people, so it was no surprise that Netflix renewed for a third season. Fans will remember that the psychological-crime drama was originally released as a Lifetime series before moving to Netflix.
In Season 2, Joe had a big move from New York City to the Golden Coast of Los Angeles and a change of name to Will. Naturally, this didn’t change his impulses and it wasn’t long before his latest love interest, Love Quinn arrived. Despite the fact that Joe is determined to change his murderous ways, people continue to die around him. In fact, that season ended with such a climactic finale, fans were left longing for more.
Who is starring in Season 3?
As for the cast of Season 3 of You, naturally, Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti will be back. Shalita Grant will be a new cast member and will play the role of Sherry. Shalita is known for her work on NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans where she plays Sonja Percy. Travis Van Winkle will be starring as a character who “invites Joe into his inner circle. He is mainly known for his role in the 2009 horror film, Friday the 13th.
Scott Speedman has joined the cast of YOU Season 3!
He’ll play Matthew, a successful CEO, husband, and uncommunicative father. He's reserved, mysterious, and has a tendency to be withdrawn … all of which masks a deep well of emotion underneath pic.twitter.com/EYp7Xfg65u

Later last year, Netflix Queue announced another addition to the cast, with Scott Speedman playing the role of Matthew. He is known for his work on Underworld and The Strangers.
What happened in Season 2 of You?
First of all, spoiler alert if you haven’t yet watched Season 2 of the popular Netflix series. In Season 2, the ninth episode ended with a huge twist when it was revealed that Love Quinn had murdered Delilah. Joe was shocked when she revealed she had been following him and knew what he was up to all along. However, that doesn’t stop her for loving him anyway.
As noted by What’s On Netflix, Love also revealed her murderous past. She admitted to framing her brother, Forty, while killing his lover when they were teenagers. Meanwhile, Forty is unaware of his sister’s actions and tries to protect her from Joe, which led to his death. While trying to kill Joe, he was shot and killed by Officer Vasquez. The cop had followed Delilah’s sister to Anavrin. This resolved Forty’s attempted murder and Quinn’s money problems, so Joe was taken off the suspect list for Henderson’s killing.
Joe moves to a home in the suburbs with a heavily pregnant girlfriend, setting up Season 3 as he hints his new “victim” will be his neighbor.
About Season 3 of You
The third season will continue to adapt Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes. The first episode is titled And They Lived Happily Ever After.
Penn Badgley had a theory as to what to expect from Joe in Season 3. He believes that Joe will attempt to find what was taken from him in his childhood. Penn heavily insinuated that Joe will try to discover what led him to become a sociopath.
Showrunner Sera Gamble mentioned in January 2019 that they had plans for Season 3. At the time, Sera said that they have an idea for the third season that is “so exciting” people will talk about it in the writer’s room every day.
