K-Drama ‘D.P.’ Season 1: Netflix Release Date, What To Expect
We have good news for fans of K-Drama. A live-action adaptation of the popular South Korean webtoon, D.P. Dog Day is coming to Netflix soon. Han Jun Hee directs the South Korean crime-drama series. Read on to find out what we know so far about the plot, cast, trailer and release date.
South Korean crime-drama D.P. comes to Netflix
Adapted from the webtoon D.P. Dog Day by Kim Bo Tong, D.P. is a Netflix Original crime-drama series, directed by Han Jun Hee. The screenplay was co-written by Kim Bo Tong and Han Jun Lee.
The synopsis explains that all male South Koreans, between the age of 18 and 28, are required to complete two years of military service. However, this doesn’t stop some of the citizens from deserting. Joon Ho becomes a member of the military defector arrest team. In his role, he must arrest all known deserters. However, his conscience makes him struggle with the more troubling cases, where soldiers feel they have no choice but to go AWOL.
Who stars in the Netflix Original series?
Jung Hae In (One Spring Night, Prison Playbook and A Piece of Your Mind) plays Ahn Joon Jo. The character of Han Ho Yul is played by Koo Kyo Hwan (Maggie, Great Patrioteers and Peninsula. Meanwhile, the role of Park Bum Goo is played by Kim Sung Kyun (The Fiery Priest, Reply 1988 and Reply 1994). Moreover, Son Seok Koo (Be Melodramactic, Designated Survivor: 60 Days and Matrimonial Chaos) plays Im Ji Sup.
The character Jung Hyun Min is played by Lee Jun Young (Imitation, Please Don’t Date Him and Good Casting). Hong Kyung plays the role of Ryu Yi Kang (School 2017, Jugglers and A Distant Place). Moreover, the role of Cho Seok Bong is played by Jo Hyun Chul (Hotel Del Luna, Memories of the Alhambra and The King of the Border). Shin Seung Ho (Shin Seung Ho, Love Alarm, A-Teen 2 and Double Patty) plays the character Hwang Jang Soo.
When did filming take place?
According to the IMDb page for the K-Drama, filming started on March 16, 2021. While it is unclear when filming was complete, the production status of the series changed to “post-production” on July 21, 2021. This was a pretty quick turnaround from post-production in July to its upcoming release date in August.
Release date of Season 1 of D.P.
Netflix has confirmed that Season 1 of D.P. will be available for streaming on Friday, August 27, 2021. Meanwhile, the first season will consist of six episodes, all with an approximate run time of 50 minutes.
