What Charge Is ‘Unexpected’ Star Anthony Vanelli Still Facing After Shooting Charges Dropped?
The drama relating to Unexpected star Rilah Ferrer’s former beau, Anthony Vanelli, continues relating to a an incident that happened on January 15. Fans will remember that Anthony allegedly stole his former step-grandmother’s car. The TLC reality star also faced charges for firing a gun into his former step-father’s house. However, this week, the prosecutor has dropped one of his charges, although he is still not out of the woods.
Charges against Unexpected star Anthony Vanelli
In the January 15 incident, Unexpected star Anthony Vanelli allegedly stole his former step-grandmother’s car. He then went on to fire a gun into his former step-father’s house, while wearing a mask and hoodie.
Vanelli was initially arrested for the second-degree felony of shooting into an occupied dwelling. He was also charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, which is a third-degree felony. However, the assault charge was amended to improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon or firearm, a first-degree misdemeanor.Meanwhile, July 13 saw the prosecutor entering a nolle prosequi (will no longer prosecute) for both charges, essentially dismissing the case. However, this does allow the prosecutor to refile charges at a later date if required.
Anthony is still behind bars
Following the dismissal, Anthony is now only facing an assault with a deadly weapon charge, which is good news for the Unexpected star. However, despite this, Rilah Ferrer’s ex is still in jail. In fact, he is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault. On top of this, he is also facing a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Those charges come from an incident on April 1, where Anthony allegedly pulled a knife on a woman, while telling her he didn’t like the guy she was with. Vanelli has entered a not guilty plea and his next scheduled court date is August 8.
Meanwhile, in other legal news relating to Anthony, his mother Rebecca’s boyfriend Markos is still behind bars. He is currently awaiting trial for burglary and second-degree murder. Fans will remember that Markos gave Anthony paternal advice on the show, as the pair shot hoops together. According to Starcasm, in Markos’ case, his attorneys again tried to get the judge to set a bond amount, but that motion was denied on Monday.
Rilah Ferrar and her Instagram account
Unexpected fans will recall that Anthony’s baby mama, Rilah Ferrar, deleted her Instagram account following the incident. As reported here, Rilah returned to Instagram in April to take a stab at Anthony.
After fans extended their sympathy to Rilah, she posted on Instagram to say she cares nothing for Vanelli. In fact, she wrote in her comments that she is happy that he is in jail and wants him to stay there. Meanwhile, Rilah’s reaction to the charges being dropped is currently unknown.
