’90 Day Fiance’ Stars Ariela And Biniyam Take Baby Aviel Home But Problems Arise
It has been a stressful time for Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre on 90 Day Fiance. Ariela had to go through an emergency Cesarian section a week before their baby was due. This was due to the fact Ariela had too little amniotic fluid and the baby couldn’t turn. However, the birth was successful and now Ariela and Biniyam are ready to take baby Aviel Biniyam Shibre home with them. This is where the first of a number of problems come in.
Warning: There are spoilers below for the latest episode of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way.
90 Day Fiance stars Ariela and Biniyam prepare to take Aviel home
At first, it is a happy time on the Sunday, October 25 episode of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. We see the new family in the hospital together. Once the doctors are happy to discharge Ariela and her baby, Biniyam starts packing her things, while the new mother feeds her baby.
Biniyam tells her his friend is coming to take them home in a car. Immediately, Ariela raises a query, because they don’t have a baby seat for the vehicle. Biniyam tries to explain to her that this isn’t a problem in Ethiopia. The African country has no ruling relating to baby seats. In fact, there is no problem with Ethiopian parents holding their babies while traveling in the car.
Ariela is horrified by this, insisting on safety for her newborn baby. It turns out their home is a five-minute walk from the hospital, so she decides to ride with his friend in the car. Poor Biniyam is tasked with carrying the baby home on foot.
In the clip below, we can see Biniyam carrying the baby in the street, covered by an umbrella. He says it is more dangerous for their child to walk with him, as anything could happen. For example, Biniyam says he could trip in the street and the baby could fall. Despite this, all goes well and Biniyam arrives at their home soon after Ariela turns up in the car.
Ethiopian traditions shock Ariela
Ariela gets a total shock over what happens next. The Ethiopian tradition is to sacrifice a sheep for good luck for the family. The new mom is extremely upset over the fact an animal has to die for them. This is especially so, as the sacrifice happened right in front of them. Despite this, the sacrifice does proceed. Biniyam goes on to explain that the sheep would be barbequed as a celebration for the whole family.
There has been much controversy over the fact that Biniyam’s family insists Aviel must be baptized. Naturally, Biniyam’s sister and his aunts immediately launch into a tirade about baptism. Being Jewish herself, Ariela tries to back out of this. She doesn’t feel her baby should be baptized into the Ethiopian Orthodox religion, as she wants him to be Jewish. Moreover, Ariela doesn’t like being told her baby would go to Hell if she doesn’t do this.
Eventually, Ariela does back down and agrees to the baptism, figuring it couldn’t hurt Aviel in any way and this would keep the family happy.
Vaccinations and circumcision for tiny Aviel
During the latest episode, Ariela and Biniyam take little Aviel to the clinic for his first set of vaccinations. However, the little tot is also about to go through circumcision. Here, both parties’ traditions agree. It is obligatory for Jewish baby boys to go through circumcision, i.e. to have their foreskin cut. In Ethiopia, the same tradition applies.
This is all good and well until little Aviel first has his oral polio vaccine and then goes through the pain of having an injection with a second vaccination. The little one felt the pain and cried, upsetting his already sensitive mother. Ariela decides to head to the bathroom to clean herself up. However, she is shocked when she returns. It turns out the nurses have already taken her baby for his circumcision.
Ariela is truly upset to find her baby had been taken without her knowledge. However, she heads into the surgery room with Biniyam. Her upset ultimately leads to a pause in the circumcision. Fans will now have to wait until next week to discover what happens to little Aviel next.
