’90 Day Fiance: The Other Way’ Recap As The TLC Reality Show Heads For A Mid-Season Break
90 Day Fiance: The Other Way is heading for its mid-season finale on August 31. However, luckily fans won’t have to wait too long, as the TLC reality show returns on October 11. In the meantime, viewers will get more than enough drama in this episode to keep them going until the show returns. Let’s see what we can expect on Monday’s episode.
90 Day Fiance: The Other Way mid-season finale
90 Day Fiance: The Other Way is a TLC spinoff where Americans move to a foreign country to be with the one they love. It is difficult enough to keep a good relationship going, but in a strange land, it can be even harder.
TLC has released its Season 2 mid-season trailer, which reveals plenty of drama, set to keep fans on the edge of their seats until October 11. Here we break down the drama for each couple.
Ariela and Biniyam
Ariela Danielle met Biniyam Shibre in Ethiopia while traveling the world to get over her divorce. She stayed for three months and in the process fell pregnant. The 90 Day Fiance star returned to Addis Ababa to have her baby with Biniyam, but it has been nothing but tense since she arrived.
TLC’s mid-season trailer shows Ariela feeling like she is stuck in Ethiopia, while Biniyam begs her to stay. The tension flares when she visits her doctor, only to find she has to have a Cesarean section that day. In the video, she can be seen on the operating table, crying and saying she is “not ready.” To make matters worse, after she gives birth, Biniyam’s sisters bring up the subject of baptism. They tell a worried Ariela that the baby will go to Hell unless baptized as a Christian.
Tim and Melyza
Tim and Melyza met in America when she was working as an au pair. They fell in love, but eventually, she had to go home to Colombia. While waiting for Melyza to return to the States, Tim has an affair with a work colleague. She finds out and is angry with Tim, who decides to rather move to Colombia to rescue their relationship.
Meanwhile, in Colombia, Tim is having problems finding a job, which he had thought would be easy. This is because the 90 Day Fiance star has no work permit and to get one he needs to marry his Colombian girlfriend, Melyza. She is in no hurry to tie the knot and they argue, with Tim asking Melyza if she has had an affair.
90 Day Fiance stars Deavan and Jihoon
Deavan moved to Seoul, South Korea with her daughter, Drascilla and baby Taeyeng, Jihoon’s son.
All along, there have been problems relating to finances and accommodation. To makes matters worse, Jihoon’s translation app causes miscommunication.
Deavan can be seen breaking down into tears and saying she doesn’t want to be in South Korea any longer. Jihoon’s parents are a major problem in their relationship. However, it does look like they work through their issues as everyone gets along just fine at Jihoon’s 100-day celebration.
Brittany and Yazan
The drama continues in Amman, Jordan, as Brittany refuses to convert to the Islam faith. However, things have just reached a whole new level of drama as it turns out Yazan’s life is in danger. In the trailer, Yazan’s friend tells Brittany, “There are people who genuinely hate him now and they might decide to kill him.”
Viewers can also see Yazan’s father threatening to murder his own son. It is hard to imagine that the relationship between party girl Brittany and her conservative Muslim partner can work out.
Kenneth and Armando
While Armando has finally come out as gay to his parents, things are not going smoothly. Fans recently watched as Kenneth proposed to Armando in a totally romantic scene. However, Armando’s father is finding it hard to accept Kenneth as a partner for his son.
On top of this, Kenneth is having trouble adjusting to Mexican culture, including being hit by homophobia. In the trailer, we can see a counselor telling the pair that they are not allowed to marry.
Jenny and Sumit on 90 Day Fiance
In the first season of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, Jenny traveled from America to be with her online Indian love, Sumit. She gave up her home and all her belongings for her new relationship. At that stage, it turned out Sumit had lied to her, as he is married.
Jenny has given Sumit a second chance and has traveled to India to be with him yet again. Sumit has finally proved to Jenny that he has filed divorce papers to get out of his arranged marriage. However, his family keeps getting in the way of their relationship. Sumit tells Jenny he is not going to give up his relationship with his family, even if she asks. She responds by asking, “So are you sure I’m who you want to be with?”
90 Day Fiance: The Other Way returns in October
While fans will get to enjoy all the drama in the episode of Monday, August 31, there will be a few weeks before the show continues. The TLC reality show will have a different weekday when it returns on Sunday, October 11. As noted by Screen Rant, TLC hasn’t mentioned a time change, it is to be assumed the show will air at 9 pm EST.
Catch the mid-season finale of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way on Mondays at 9 pm EST on TLC. In the meantime, watch the trailer below.
