’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Loren Brovarnik Opens Up About Scary C-Section With Baby Shai
90 Day Fiancé star Loren Brovarnik has opened up about the C-section she had when giving birth to her and Alexei’s son, Shai Josef. It was a scary experience for Loren, 32, as this was in the time of COVID-19, which made matters harder for her and baby Shai.

Loren Brovarnik shared a post on Instagram on Monday, July 13, with an image of baby Shai. She opened up about how she had to have a C-section, as Shai was born with a true knot. This is a knot that forms in the baby’s umbilical cord and totally affected giving birth.
Loren wrote that it was “an emotionally draining experience.” The 90 Day Fiancé star was on a magnesium drip and could not see baby Shai for 24 hours following the C-section. To make matters worse, COVID-19 impacted the birth experience while she was in the hospital. However, luckily her nurse, Alice, was very helpful. Brovarnik wrote that Alice checked on the baby in the NICU and gave them regular updates, as they couldn’t go there due to COVID-19.

Loren said how she and Alexei bonded with Alice in their time together. When they finally left her, they actually cried because she had really helped them so much. This is especially so, as their families couldn’t be with them at the hospital, due to the virus. Alice also helped by telling them how lucky they were with the true knot. She also taught Loren how to pump and to swaddle baby Shai. Loren added that “Miss Alice made a scary time for us, a little bit easier.”
Loren and Alexei welcome baby Shai
It was on April 14 that Loren and Alexei welcomed their first baby at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami, Florida. Shai weighed 5 pounds and 10 ounces at birth and measured 19 inches. Shai was in a hurry to meet his parents and came one month earlier than the expected due date.
Us Weekly quotes Loren as saying they were meant to meet their baby boy earlier. She added that with all that is going on right now with COVID-19, this was “the smile and light” they needed. Loren went on to explain that they are both “so beyond in love with him and even more in love with each other.”

90 Day Fiancé stars meet in 2013
It was while Loren was on her Birthright trip to Israel that she met Alexei. He was working as a medic with her tour and they just linked up. They soon fell in love and Alexei traveled to the United States on a K1 visa. Loren and Alexei were married in 2015 and tied the knot for a second time for their extended family in Israel in 2016. Alexei became a US citizen four months prior to baby Shai’s birth.
Loren says that now she and Alexei have added Shai to their lives, their family is complete. She says her heart couldn’t be more full. Every time she looks at Shai, he puts a bigger smile on her face than the one before. They sound like the perfect family!
