Is ‘Golden Bachelorette’ Helping ‘Abbott Elementary’ Ratings?
The Golden Bachelorette has been airing on Wednesday nights on ABC. Now Abbott Elementary is airing immediately following the hit reality dating show. Is having Joan Vassos season airing directly before the show helping at all? Keep reading to get the scoop.
Is Golden Bachelorette Hurting Or Helping Abbott Elementary?
A look at the latest ratings to come in for Wednesday nights on ABC reveals that Golden Bachelorette airing just before Abbott Elementary may not be doing the latter show any favors. In fact, ratings indicate that Joan Vassos is only pulling in an average of 2.7 million total viewers and a 0.3 demo rating through its first five episodes, according to TV Line
Last year Gerry Turner’s season of The Golden Bachelor pulled in 4.7 million. However, Gerry’s season also aired during the writer’s strike which caused many scripted shows to be delayed.
As for Abbott Elementary, it drew in only 2 million viewers along with a 0.3 demo rating. This is down from its season opener to mark an all-time audience low and one of its smallest demo numbers to date.

Joan Vassos Wants To Appear On Abbott Elementary
It seems Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos is eager to join the cast of Abbott Elementary as a guest star. Decider asked Vassos which show she would love to appear on and she reportedly didn’t miss a beat in saying it was definitely Abbott Elementary.
Joan said, “Yeah! I’ve already started lobbying for it! I want to be on Abbott Elementary so badly. I flippin’ love Abbott Elementary, and I’m dying to be on it. And I love the cast.”
Some may think it’s really far-fetched for Joan to want to be on the show but she kept on lobbying for herself by pointing out that she works at a school. Vassos is an administrator and her daughter is a third-grade teacher.
Abbott Elementary has had a lot of guest stars in the past and you never know if Joan Vassos could get her chance in the future.
