David Muir Joins ‘Good Morning America’ In Important Role
Most people know David Muir as the host on World News Tonight and 20/20. However, this week he joined Good Morning America as one of its co-hosts. David wasn’t there to interview a celebrity or talk about current topics, though. He was there for a much more important reason.
Here is why David was on GMA this week.
David Muir Covering Hurricane Milton For Good Morning America
David Muir filled in as one of the four hosts for Good Morning America this week and he was there on a dangerous assignment. David was in Florida and was reporting on Hurricane Milton from the ground. David actually led the way, by talking to the other three co-hosts as he reported from Florida.
Sage in the studio in New York were George Stephanopoulos, Michael Strahan, and Rebecca Jarvis. David wore a rain jacket and looked very much different than he does when he sits behind a studio desk in a tailored suit. He then explained what was happening, what damage the story was inflicting on Florida, and the harrowing situation.
The video was posted on Instagram and fans chimed in to wish David safety as he took on this important job:
- “Be safe. Lord, have mercy on all these people there.”
- “I’m nervous about the impending tragic stories that the storm will produce”
- “Please tell this man to go home and be safe!”
- “Go home and be safe. No story worthy of life”
David Muir has a long career as a news anchor, and this is just another example of his dedication to the job.
Where Was Robin Roberts On Good Morning America?
With David Muir as the fourth co-host on Good Morning America, many people noticed that Robin Roberts wasn’t at the studio in New York City. Rebecca Jarvis was there in her place.

As usual, Robin is always open about where she is at when she misses a day or more on Good Morning America. She took to social media to explain why she was not on the show that day. “Good morning,” she wrote alongside her video message. “Not on GMA today so I can attend a dear friend’s father’s homegoing service in TX.”
She then mentioned that it is a “difficult time for many in the path of Hurricane Milton and our thoughts and prayers are with them.” In the video itself, Robin talked about how she was thinking of all the people who have lost their homes or loved ones to the devastating hurricane.
