Katy Perry Happy To Be Finished With ‘American Idol’?
When Katy Perry left American Idol, she mostly let on that she was leaving because she wanted to make new music. She also made it clear she wanted to return to the road and travel, playing concerts again. Is she happy with her decision? As Carrie Underwood joins the show, Katy seems happy to be done with her judging duties.
Here is what Katy Perry has reportedly said about her stint on American Idol.
Kety Perry Happy To Be Off American Idol
Katy Perry has left American Idol, and while she said her replacement should keep her seat warm, it sounds like she might not return. Carrie Underwood has signed up to replace her. With that said, Carrie is a major star, and there is very little chance that she is a long-term replacement.
A source claims that Katy Perry is happy to be gone from American Idol. She also apparently said that she doesn’t envy Carrie Underwood replacing her. “It was the worst job Katy’s ever had, from the vile trolling, the vicious backbiting and gossip going on behind the scenes,” the source said (via Life & Style).
The source went on to say that some people don’t want to work there because of it. They said it was frustrating for Katy because she is “a professional” and not lazy, but the show wasted her time. “She certainly made a fortune, but she’s glad to be gone.”
That also might be why Katy Perry announced her departure to Jimmy Kimmel on late-night television rather than on American Idol. She also didn’t tell Lionel Richie or Luke Bryan. It was said that the show’s producers were surprised when she said she wasn’t signing on to return.
Katy Perry Doesn’t Envy Carrie Underwood
Katy Perry feels that American Idol also hurt her comeback album efforts. The source believes that Katy blames her disappointment in her comeback and new music on the backlash she received as an Idol judge. With that said, Katy is reportedly not envious of Carrie replacing her on the show.
“She thinks Carrie’s a good kid and wishes her nothing but the best, but she’s walking into a viper’s nest,” the source said. “Katy’s offering her to call anytime for advice because Carrie will need it.”
Carrie Underwood will replace Katy Perry when American Idol returns. Despite being a fan favorite and an Idol original, Carrie has already started getting some fan backlash. It will likely get worse once the new season begins.
