Johnny Bananas is on The Challenge 40. The theme this season is “Battle of the Eras,” which means that the teams are split into different generations from the show. This also includes a new generation of younger players who might not have the experience of someone like Bananas. He also isn’t going easy on them.

Here is what Johnny said about the new generation of The Challenge stars.

Johnny Bananas Calling New Challenge Season A ‘Pissing Contest’

Johnny Bananas sees the new season of The Challenge as a “pissing contest.” That is because it isn’t just about winning the prize. This season is about proving which generation of stars is the best. With that in mind, he said he won’t “make it easy” for the newer players to “take the crown.”

“I look at The Challenge — and I think a lot of the older the vets did as well — as our domain, and you want to protect that at all costs,” Johnny said (via PEOPLE). Aneesa Ferreira also took part in the same interview. Johnny continued, “As much as we’d love to see the newer generation come up and make their mark, we’re not going to make it easy for them to come in and take the crown.”

Johnny said it would come down to “a pissing contest between the old guard and the new guard.” He explained that it is a battle between the people who lit the torch and those who will carry the torch.

Johnny Bananas Is The Challenge GOAT

If anyone has the right to defend his spot on The Challenge, it is Johnny Bananas. Bananas (real name: Johnny Devenanzio) has won more seasons of the competition than anyone else in history. He has seven victories in his time on the show.

Johnny heads to The Challenge 40 after his very early elimination on The Trators: Season 2. It had to hurt Johnny to be the first person eliminated on The Traitors after all his success on The Challenge. “I was kicked off on The Duel because I wasn’t seen as a threat and I was the first one eliminated on Traitors for the exact opposite reason,” Bananas said.

It gave him some ammunition to prove himself. He did so fast by winning the first challenge in Season 40. “If I don’t make it to a final and win every season, I’m washed up, I’m over the hill, I need to retire, I’m an old man, I need a hip replacement,” Johnny joked. However, he said he was ready to win and revealed there are five big budget challenges this season, so fans should get ready.
